Getting paint chips . Was a long work trip to be honest but just wondering if the paint is unusually soft .

Putting on some ceramic coating and the Toyota hood deflector anyway . Hope it helps .

I did a clay bar treatment and then ceramic wax the entire truck with only 50 miles on it. Started with a Clean Slate foam wash to get all/if any previous waxes or coatings on the truck from the factory.

Wow...What a difference now. Cant wait for the first time it sees rain to see how it repels. But first thoughts...Perfect.

I also did a badge removal and went pretty hard on the paint with my nail until then using the wonder wheel. With some rubbing compound and polishing compound. Removed all small scratches or blemishes and is perfect now. Just a heads up.

Ceramic won't save it from chipping. I still get them with my ceramic coat.

Ceramic coating is too hyped up. It certainly will not protect against chips. Toyota does have a weak paint in my opinion. I have several chips in my hood. Ceramic coating helps to repel dirt, keeps it from sticking to the truck. When it's time to wash it, most of the dirt falls off with rinsing. But, you can and will damage your paint if you wash your truck the wrong way. That is why to me, unless you do it yourself, ceramic coating is too hyped up. If you do do it yourself just remember it's a coating not magical shield. I personally wouldn't pay the outrageous prices I have seen.

Correct. It just helps with the maintenance of the truck down the road. Washing and cleaning is much easier. Drying as well. Could use air to dry which will help with the small swirls from drying.

The only thing to protect from rock chips is a clean protector on high compact spots. Which that is obvious.

PPF on the hood and quarter panels is your best bet. Hood deflectors not so much.

Fuel delete mod Cup holder upgrade
PPF and where possible rock chip guard. Most ceramic wont do a thing for chips.

A good ceramic coating will keep your vehicle looking great with the proper care. I have done my own coatings on my last 4 cars. Extremely time consuming (10-12hrs) but saved me $1,000 to $1,400 in labor cost for a 3+ year coating.

Ceramic coatings are pointless unless you hand wash.
