Is this poor shipping?

I ordered wheels off eBay. 4 of them. One arrived today in a box. Wrapped in plastic, but no foam, or anything.

kinda thinking wheels should be shipped a wee bit better??

 

Brand new wheels?

 

Are you going to wrap them in foam when you drive with them?

 

I remember back in 2013/14, when all four wheels on my Accord was stolen, dealer had to overnight three different sets from NY (to SF, CA), via FedEx.
I remember the person in charge opened three of the boxes for me to see the reason for delay (somehow somewhat they managed to get three same color but fourth is always wrong) and the boxes were pretty thick compared to regular shipping boxes. And it was shrink wrapped in a thicker plastic material, but that was it.
I would say, if ain't dented/ripped/cracked, use it and never buy from that seller again if that makes you restless about it..... just personal preference.

 

Had some wheels shipped from FL to SJ, CA, and I got bubble wrap, and plastic. Dude shipped 2 wheels in each box and arrived well packaged. Odds are due to weight, they will be dollied vs carried.

 

He'll probably just wrap them in rubber.

if not damaged, just roll with it.
if they're take offs, they're prob the old boxes from the new wheels they got and the rubber/foam is gone in the trash. be glad they at least put them in the box and didn't just wrap in saran wrap.
i agree, packaging could be a little better, but considering you're buying used, take offs, and i'm guessing not from a dealer, be happy with it and move forward.
as stated, make sure they're not damaged, mark them to not buy from if you don't like the packaging, and enjoy the new wheels.
if damaged, open a claim/talk to seller and move forward from that

 

nothing dented or dinged. Just thought there’d be a little more care put into packing. Ya, I get it it’s a,wheel, but it’s likely to see more damage on the face due to shipping handling than it will be driven on the truck.

I bought 4 wheels. One,arrived. 3 shipments,total and 2 outstanding. Seller,claims wheels are boxed seperately,and strapped,together so 2 shipments of 2 wheels.

so one shipment of 2 wheels strapped together, and one,single wheel outstanding? Not making,sense. 2 more parcels outstanding. If one parcel has 2 wheels the other will have 1 wheel. Then how did my wheel,arrive?

 

Welcome to buying second hand from eBay. Your expectations are beyond the reality of the situation. Used wheels. Joe blow seller. Ya get what ya get.

 

look at the shipping label. what's the weight say.
i've had a seller send me some suspension for my wife's ride and said it was 1 item. when it showed up, it was obviously missing one. reached out to seller and he stated that there had to be another one and sent me the tracking info on that one.
sometimes you can track a package and it'll show (as well as on the label) if it's 1 of 2, 2 of 2, etc.

 

that’s why I’m asking. I haven’t bought from eBay in a while. Now I know why.

you mind me asking why negative? what is bad about the item that is damaged to justify leaving negative feedback?

 

seller replied back to me. He said they label all 4 boxes seperately in case the strap breaks. So it’s likely the 2 remaining parcels are 1. The lone wheel from my delivery,today, and 2. The 2 wheels strapped together.

It’s possible the boxes became separated and were given separate labels. If they aren’t damaged I don’t know the big deal is. I spent a ridiculous amount for some TRD Heritage wheels and the dealer severely gouged one trying to put the tire on - shit happens… or in this case doesn’t.

 

Is it damaged? Or just poor packaging?

 

There’s a small chip. Not,concerned,about that.

just found the packaging lacking. Maybe I have a higher standard and would have at least put some bubble wrap so that the face of the rim was protected.

 

i personally don't feel like packaging justifies a negative review when they arrived in good condition with nothing wrong. kinda feels like saying this milk taste bad because the carton was dented. just my opinion. it just feels like you're giving someone an unjustifiable bad rating.
do as you please obviously, just stating it from an outside perspective.

I,get your point. But this seller isn’t,just some dude sellin a set a wheels. It’s someone,who,obviously buys and sellers oem takeoffs. It’s a business. Just expected a little more care that’s all. I’ll hold off with the feedback until the rest of the wheels arrive.

 

If they arrived undamaged, then packaging was sufficient. Not liking the appearance of it is immaterial. Unless you just want everyone to get off your lawn.

I ended up leaving positive review. But I still feel there should have been more care put into packaging. Maybe you think it’s crazy. Maybe I’m old and grumpy. Or maybe I just have a higher standard, and am judging by that higher standard.

wheels were takeoffs with “25 miles”. So they were essentially new. And given that they were more scratched and dented than my 11 year old rims driven in some pretty bad conditions tells me there was little care put into.

at the end of the day I wanted a reasonably priced set of oem wheels for winter tires. And that’s exactly what I got.

Nothing wrong with leaving an honest review. Hell, people leave bad reviews on products all the time because shipping was a day late. It doesn't have go be 5 stars or 1 either. I'd be honest and tell them and_or leave a less than perfect review. Lots of factors make everything vary.
I've also had stuff come in to me in less than perfect condition when it should have been practically flawless. I get the higher standard part too. I would have expectations off of what I would do, and don't take into account how others in this world do things.

 

ugh - like I said shippers these days find a way to F up everything and get away with it. The ole' not my fault rule UPS and FedEx use time and time again. Hope it all works out for you.
