I slept good but only got about 6hrs. Have been on a kick lately of getting up and working out first thing in the morning. Does wonders for the mind to prep for the day. Those 4:30 wakeups during the week have been rough though.

Yeah, that happens. The whole “pay the tasting fee or buys a few bottles” scam gets us every time.

Years ago (before kids) the wife and I would take trips to Walla Walla a few times a year. A bunch of our friends would ask us to “get them a mixed case”, so we’d drop $3-4k and come home with 12-15 cases of wine. We always ended up with more than we wanted, but it was fun.

Luckily, my good friend is a club member at two of the places we went, so she booked us under her membership. But walking out of some of the places that she likes with one or two bottles hits the wallet pretty hard.

Not sure where you are at with your cellular. Knowing you it might already be in the hundreds. But if not, when you ask yourself “well, what if we build up the stash so we can pull wine that’s been laid down for 4-5 years” you are at the edge of the cliff…step back

 

Actually, far from it. My wife does not really drink at all (yesterday was very rare for her, and I was impressed how well she could pick out nuances). So I don't really drink much at home either because of that. And we don't have a lot of friends with really discerning tastes in that regard either, so I don't have much reason to keep a stocked cellar.

I am a Grade A++ nerd, and I could go down a rabbit hole very deep without coming up for air. I used to be a certified champion beer judge and a pretty skilled brewer before kids and life got in the way. So I have consciously avoided really geeking out on wine because I know the implications. It is the same reason I refuse to play golf.

But that person you are describing is my friend...only she is already long past that cliff edge.
