Eibach setup

Hey all,

Window shopping tonight ( I need to go to bed... lol) , did some research for awhile and landed on eibachs pro truck kit for about 1k CAD

Anyone got experience with this setup? Sounds like its comparable to 5100's, but the eibachs are more " progressive" , so better for road and slower bump absorption offroad? also seeing high ratings on those eibach springs, compared to stock or OME

rear shocks can also do up to 1.5 inch of lift, compared to 1 inch for 5100.

Fronts are adjustable ( collar) which is nice.

Thoughts? My end goal is front bumper with potentially winch, would be nice to have that with a 2 inch lift and good ride quality

Rear shocks can handle up to 1.5" lift, but don't provide any lift, in case that's important to you.

A couple of people on here I've seen install the kit. I'm an Eibach fan; I wouldn't buy their stuff for these trucks. And make a note: It only supports one or the other, 2WD or 4WD. Look carefully.

"More progressive" sounds like marketing BS to me.

 

With a bumper and a winch make sure you can get 700lb springs. Eibach is a good company

what would make you not want to buy their stuff for these trucks?

They've since removed the links to that specific kit, but it was basically this kit, which is the same you linked, but here's the US website (see screencap below in case you get the Canuckistani website): https://eibach.com/product/E80-82-066-01-22

And for the record, I'm pretty confident that kit is actually re-badged Bilstein 5100s with Eibach stickers and a different spring bucket. Eibach did what Eibach is known to do: For products they don't directly support and/or if there's something better out there, they re-badge someone else's product with their name. It's nice, and part of the reason I appreciate Eibach. They recognized "If we can't do it better, we'll choose what's best and put out name on it". Sometimes they even sell it cheaper.

If you buy the Eibach upper control arms for our trucks you get SPC arms.
It would appear if you buy the Eibach Pro Truck "Stage 1" kit, you get Bilstein 5100s (and the price is nice if so, if fully preassembled!!)​

But as you can see here, and read about in that thread, it clearly says it's only for 2WD trucks.

@Tundra2 you worked for Billy for a bit, if not bound by an NDA or anything, do you happen to know if Billy was manufacturing for others?

 

I've had them on my DC since 2019. Eibach states they are for 2WD only but I had no issues with install or operation since. They ride very nice both on and off road but I got nowhere near 2.5" of lift advertised, most likely because that's what you'd get on a lighter 2WD access cab. I need to bump the retainer up from the bottom one or two more notches. More likely though next time I take them off I will replace with Kings or something similar.

 

Interesting! So when you say you get no where near 2.5 lift, that's on the lowest clip? Or is that on a higher clip?

Lowest setting, which is how they assemble the units. I got less than 1" of lift and that was before I added a steel plate bumper.

Yea interesting , they do say it's 0-2.75 inch of lift, so I would imagine lowest clip would be 0 , since that's the lowest point of the range of lift?

Pretty good source claiming Bilstein and Eibach are not the same.

 

Two of us here have had the lower shock bolt freeze in place. I wouldn't recommend them just for that. I put them on my Sequoia and they are too soft, but that could be because the sequoia is heavier.

 

Like from corrosion? Would a bit of anti seize likely prevent the issue?

 

What do you mean by too soft? They don't give enough lift? Too bouncy on the road?

 

Possibly, not sure how long it would last. They use a metal sleeve in the lower bushing and the sleeve froze on one side.

I used stock coils and moved the clip up one so .75 lift. They are to bouncy and uncontrolled.

 

Ah that makes sense, eibach does specifically say on their site to use with their coils, that would probably make it alot better
