I don’t think you will need to do a diff drop. My driver side boot was throwing grease after I did the lift. Just took the clamp off, cleaned it up, tossed a little more grease in, and re-clamped it. Haven’t had a problem since.

I don’t think you can tell from the picture but the rims on my truck have corrosion on them and are peeling in several places. I looked into having them media blasted and refinished and at that point I might as well buy a new set of rims. I agree with you and think they are one of the best looking OEM rims from that era. If the corrosion wasn’t as bad as it is I would just keep them on the truck. Thanks for the compliments!

Depending on where he is in NC, @shifty` is about three hours south of Charlotte on 85.

Or about 12 hours west of me on 20.

… then that god forsaken ATL traffic:mad:

You just gotta know how to work around it. It's very do-able in most situations.

And nowhere near as bad as Austin traffic IMHO. But yeah, I'd meet someone halfway, even if it meant driving 1.5 hours. As long as our Hybrid was available so I'm not blowing tons of $$$ on gas.

I’m sure that’s just like anywhere. I’ve been in DFW for about 14 months now and I’m slowly figuring that out. I used to know CLT like the back of my hand because that’s where I was raised, grew up and lived for almost 4 decades

Mine's Salsa Red and the roof looks horrible. I'm thinking of finding the closest match vinyl wrap color that I can, then just sanding it down and throwing the wrap on. Nobody's really going to notice if there's a slight color variance. I just don't want the clear coat failure to become paint failure too. Next thing you know I'd be down to bare metal and rusting.

Grandpa had my truck repainted a couple years before i got it. Cheap paint jobs aren't a fix, more of a bandaid.

I’ve got those wheels on my phantom grey pearl 2004. The only thing I would consider switching to is the gunmetal TRDs. Those OEMs are sweet. But I hear ya on having to refinish them. I’d probably buy new ones too.

Yeah I love the OEM rims. I may keep them and refinish them down the road. I’m going with the matte black TRD 17’s. I think it will look good with the silver. That phantom grey pearl is a cool color. Ironically I was looking for a 1st gen in that color, white or black. I wasn’t even looking for a silver truck. I guess you could say the truck found me. I happened to drive past it one day while out of town visiting family. Couple days later it was sitting in my driveway.

75 percent of my Thunder Grey truck was repainted at some point. I suspect a front end accident at some point due to aftermarket front bumper parts. At least the paint looks good for now, on the driver side anyway.

My truck probably looked like that, but PO Maaco’d the hood and roof. They didn’t match the paint that great so it’s almost kind of a faintly brown color in certain lighting. Oh well.

Flew from Long Beach to Denver to pick this up! 2006 Double Cab TRD Offroad with 4x4... 180k miles and well maintained! First pics in the desert was when I bought the truck, on the trip home. Second pic is today after swapping over my 255/80/17s w/ Level 8 MK6 (zero offset) wheels from my Tacoma. By the way... I had a 2006 DCLB tacoma that I loved... but 2wd was getting old and so was the interior space with family of four. Super stoked on this one so far...

    PXL_20230916_173654906.jpg new wheels.jpg new wheels 2.jpg new wheels 3.jpg

I think the 255 size is pretty darn good on the 1st gen tundras! hardly notice any difference in power and braking compared to the 265/75/16s that were on it before. If anyone is curious.... Toyo Open Country AT3s only weigh in around 51lbs. Not bad for an all terrain 33"

Why'd you fly from a place with no rust to a place with rust for a truck? Are CA prices that out of control?

Based on what I've seen out of Cali, he probably would've paid $2k-3k more for the exact same truck. That much money will go a long way towards updates/customizations.
