Replaced front pads (spongy pedal) now, did not remove cap while closing calipers did lose fluid, fluid in resevoir is just below cap at moment..I noticed rubber cap is vented or I blew it up, but appears like it was designed to vent...Thoughts?

Pads will feel a little spongy until they break in.

cap has a rubber layer under the plastic cap. The rubber part is to seal the reservoir, but the cap is vented to allow the rubber part to move (it will get sucked into the reservoir when fluid goes down, back up with increased volume etc).

do a brake fluid flush; you may have introduced some air into the system

By 'spongy pedal', do you mean braking is bad, gang? I usually do some brake tests after bleeding and she should brake very well! Mine can easily abs with new tires and dry pavement.

Have you ever done the brake fluid? If you havent I would. Should change it about every 2 years or so.

When compressing the calipers, crack the bleeder open to send the old contaminated brake fluid out of the system, rather than compressing the dirty fluid back through your ABS system. You said you lost fluid? Where did it go?

Did you spray it off with water? Please do, so that your body won't rust to hek.

If you never changed brake fluid and squeezed all that old one back into the system, that cannot be very optimal for health of the brake system.

Yes, please do so when you can. Brake fluid is hydroscopic. Water will dilute and neutralize it, hence preventing body damage.
