Yes, but with the BorgeRV or Bodegacooler to go with it. Seems doable since those draw less than 50 watts i believe.

 

The 12v fridge in my truck draws like 40 watts when the compressor kicks on.

 

The Jackery Solar Generator 1500 is on sale for $1600. I'm thinking I could do it cheaper building it myself.

Guess I need the following:
Solar panel and charger controller, batteries, fan, DC/DC converter, and a DC/AC inverter.

How hard can it be building one? lol

gonna bug my home automation buddy to help me design my system when i get back to pasadena. I've come up with a few excuses that i might want 24v.

 

Not hard at all, getting things where it's portable and durable would be the hardest part.

Use something like this and mount a charge controller and inverter to the outside.

 

We left the morning after. I felt great, my wife however had a bit too much to drink the night before but we made it regardless. Our wedding was close to home as a lot of family lives around us so it just made sense.

 

I think the hardest part is choosing the type of charger for it. Looks like there's various types that can be used.

Here's a cheap PWM controller for a 200W solar panel but it's meant for the Jackery Explorer 300:

It looks like most of the cost is in the battery used to store the charge if it's lithium.

This isn't a bad charge controller that's economical. Can't tell how strong the current is though without buying an extra bluetooth adapter thingy. This is what I have installed in my truck and can charge my truck battery via solar with it.

@Jack McCarthy i think I’m close to 5-600$ deep for the battery, controller and wiring and accessories. I plan to run no inverter for the time being.
I haven’t depleted the battery low enough yet to really see what the panel and PWM controller can do. I run a different mppt controller on my house set up, so the numbers I’m seeing in the truck are super odd, but I think that has to do with the charge profile for lipos vs AGM.
I’m pretty sure my 75l fridge draws around 5 amps on max, lower run time at night, but we will see how the battery preforms the thru the night and the next day with solar consumption.
If the solar ferry comes around, I might have 200w in no time on the roof

 

so are you on lipo or agm? I've seen the dakota lithium ads and comments, but i'd hate myself for weeks if i let an ad agency hook me.

i'd like to know how many 40v or 60v tool batteries i'd need. If i have a 24v controller i can probably run the 18/20v stuff & be fine.

these little solar charged motion lights are great. I'm not using the stickers, but i've got a hook so i can hang em from places, or just setting em somewhere, use em hand held if i need to.

 

I have a AGM for the starter battery, and a lipo for my outback shenanigans. The charging profile is weird so I’m not quite sure how well it’s doing

 

you have a solar panel or solar blanket? I think rusty had a battery & a little blanket, and i dont really remember des's setup (i saw how much room yall had under your front seats & just gave up).

I might get a roof rack for the cab to mount an adjustable panel to, but polo & i dont require a family's worth of power. And when i find a spot, i wanna be there all week.

I am a canine handler & plant husband. Husbander? And a sort of security & inspection. $250/wk with the benefits of hassling dogs & watering plants. If i spend an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening it works out to 17.85/hr that ALL goes into my pocket. I'm just not protected from being a dumbass. And i can moderately handle that responsibility.

They make a high quality battery without all the marketing costs. Currently running a single 100ah marine model with plans to go to a 2x 200ah setup eventually/when I pull the trigger on some a/c.

Victron is the gold standard in electrical components. (charge controllers, dc/dc chargers, BMS, inverters)

I am currently running a Renogy Adventurer charge controller, and quite honestly its garbage. The first one arrived DOA and it does not allow nearly enough programming for for the required battery parameters. If you are going for peak efficiency, you want a MPPT charge controller. MPPT is something like 12% more efficient than PWM.

SRS light has been on since I bought my truck. I pulled the code and got an open circuit for the clock spring. I'm like WTF.. my horn works. The cruise functions. Then when I pulled the steering wheel off to sew on a leather cover. I find that someone had changed the clock spring to a single lead for the air bag!!! So I'm thinking that if I gotta get clock spring to fix the SRS issue, then why not plan for adding steering wheel controls at the same time?
