    Hey guys…..

so I just replaced my 2007 SR5 5.7 DC Long bed that had a Readylift 3”-1” on it for 16 years, with a new to me (only 1 previous owner) with a 2020 of the same exact (27k miles). Only difference mechanically being the 2020 has the TRD Offroad package with the bilsteins…..

my plan for the 2020 is to achieve the same lift as the ‘07 3-1” lift kit, but to do it with a suspension lift.

    so far I’m going with:
Icon 2.5 coil overs for the front (58650)
    Icon 2.0 rear shock (56506)

and I was considering the Icon leaf expansion pack (51200) to achieve the 1” lift I had in the 2007 with the readylift kit……

with all that said I was also going to install both front & rear TRD sway bars as I do ALOT of towing.

I just recently found out that the Icon rear leaf expansion pack is not compatible with the Trd rear sway bay, basically it’s an either or scenario, you can’t have both. I want to use the leaf expansion pack to achieve the rear lift instead of the cast iron “spacers” from ready lift.

from doing research on this forums among others the consensus seems to be the rear sway bay makes a huge difference.

looking for input…….or a work around on achieving the rear 1” lift while being able to use the sway bar…….if there is one

BTW had to replace the factory UCA’s with after market for alignment clearance…….per Icon…….

Also should have noted I have been pulling a boat for the last 16 years (6000 lbs) without a rear sway bar so I probably wouldn’t notice the difference if I didn’t add the rear sway bar……….but I need the 1-1.5” to help keep the factory rake.

    TIA

    Alot of them
You can go with a custom leaf pack and have them built with 1 inch of lift in them. Alcans for example..

Lifting a truck that tows a lot isn't the best idea. It will tow better and more efficiently at stock height. You can do it, but it's a form over function route.

You'll also want to look into adding an external transmission cooler. They eliminated it in 2019, and it's been hotly debated, no pun intended.

As for why the sway bar won't work, I'd ask icon to explain why. If it just needs longer links, entirely possible with that lift, then you might be able to get extended links.

I hear yboth you guys on achieving the rear 1” lift height by customizing the leafs…..which is why I’m considering the Icon leaf expansion pack………also on the lift not helping with towing……but I prefer the lift over better mileage…….

the Icon tech said it could or would cause more stress to the rear shocks potentially damaging them…..

so I called them back and chewed it over with them and basically I’m going to have to make a decision on whether I want the added stability towing or the lift height. I’m going with the lift height. I did the same with the 2007 but with the ready lift 1” cast iron spacer but want to do it in a smoother way this time.

I never had a sway bar before in the rear and am sure it would make a good difference would rather have the lift height.

also the truck has the tow package which has the oil & tranny cooler along with the he alternator and batt.

looks like I can’t have the best of both worlds in this case‍♂️

You do not have an external cooler for the transmission. It was eliminated, even on tow packages. Toyota calls the warming puck the cooler now, but it is not the same cooling ability. Again, there's lots of info on it here on the forum to read and decide, but you need to know that you don't have one on the 2020 unless the previous owner installed it aftermarket.

Check out the RAS system. It gives 1” lift in the rear and the TRD rear sway bar can stay. I have both and mainly added the RAS to help with sag while towing my dump trailer or having weight in the bed.

Easy to work around this!!! Rather than mounting the RSB under the axle, put it on the rear. I did this when I installed my Deaver U748 springs. Worked like a charm…

Deaver makes an expansion pack too. I broke a leaf in the Icon expansion pack so not a fan. I don't remember with 100% certainty but I'm reasonably sure I ran their expansion pack with the TRD rear sway bar w/o issue.

I run the icon 3 leaf expansion pack with the rear sway bar. It is compatible. The only rub is it CAN rub at full flex. But no issues and I tow regularly. I also run airbags but am thinking about swapping it out for an Alcan custom set.

It was eliminated for 2019-2021 Tundras. Since it existed on previous models there is a company that provides all the OEM parts from the previous models and an aftermarket external cooler. Many people on this forum including myself have used this kit and it works even better than if you did have the OEM external cooler located in the AC condenser.

The only emojis that work on the forum are the ones you get when you click the smile icon within the post box like these:);) . Would make sense if the forum code was updated to allow normal unicode emojis from apple/android
