No issues. I had to pair it initially and after that it auto connects every time I get in. Haven't had any problems yet, but it's only been a couple of days since it was installed.

Well that's good. I still have to do the latest firmware update, so maybe that'll fix it.

Nice... I like this idea of placement. Also like that interior color. That one was rare I remember when endlessly searching for a truck.

Does this Alpine knob control just the volume of the head unit or also the bass on an amp? If yes, can it do both simultaneously or does it only connect to one or the other at a time?

It controls both volume and subwoofer level. Turning the knob increases or decreases the volume and pushing in while turning will increase or decrease the subwoofer volume. I'm currently all stock (OEM JBL) aside from the Alipine head unit so the knob only controls the volume for me.

I plan to swap all the speakers and add amplifiers at a later date.

Well I guess I'm adding this to the list. I was #teamnoknobs but I like where you mounted it, and having sub control would be nice...

That location is perfect in my opinion. The knob is out of sight and easily accessible, especially if you keep your arm on the center armrest as I do. I'm not a fan of how it looks mounted to the screen and there was no way I was going to disassemble everything again to mount the bracket (you can't access the screws due to the dash kit being too close to the back of the screen).

Yep, the faceplate mount was a non-starter for me. I've already got the rear window switch in the card holder spot, so the knob will be perfect there. Glad you posted it haha

Oh, and for anyone that is using the Maestro RR v1 and ran a USB cable to update/reprogram without pulling the dash apart, it works great but you need to pull the 15A Radio fuse at the driver kick panel before connecting to your computer. The MRR cannot be powered while updating.

Glad I got the RR2. And it flashed just fine for me over BT yesterday.

Hey all, for anyone who installed an hdmi or other port in place of a cigarette lighter port, does anyone have that lighter left over and wanna sell it to me? When the boys at Best Buy did the install, they broke the cap on mine and I hate having it naked. They also put it (the HDMI) opposite the side I asked so I’ll get back in to do that and other cleanup, so when I swap it I’d like to pop in a complete one with a cap in place of the one they broke.

Send a message if you have one and don’t want it!

My advice would be to forget about the pocket. Mount the chassis in the lower portion of the dash kit and drop the screen down 2 screw holes. Those that have mounted it high have complained about the whole assembly being very unstable and susceptible to bumps and vibrations.

I mounted mine low and it’s rock solid.

What @TRDFerguson said. I lowered mine 1 notch from they way it came so I could mount the mic in the pocket. It's a clean install of the mic which works well, but the screen jiggles like a bitch.

I plan on taking the whole thing out to lower the screen, move the mic, and plug a ROKU or Firestick in, kind of a PITA.

Mine's mounted up high and it's rock solid with the Scosche mount. Love having the extra storage pocket.

Ok next question, the VIM bypass is for the parking brake, as in when it’s in park, correct? Is there a defeat for the e brake (foot brake to the left)? It disallows using “settings” unless that brake is engaged. VIM also stops that, or is there another way? Nothing I can do?

VIM is vehicle in motion bypass. It negates the need to engage the parking brake to access settings and "restricted" applications when installed

This is the out of the box factory location. My screw would need to be drilled to get them out. The HU is rock solid here. IMG_1248.jpg

That's odd. I did end up drilling out a screw and lowered mine 1 notch from the out of box setting, yet yours looks lower than mine.
Also, what screen is that? I'm guessing Apple car play cause I haven't seen that, but I have Android.

Yep, that’s the CarPlay Spotify screen.

I think the main difference is being mounted in the lower spot on the faceplate - I bought a new one that was supposed to have it mounted like yours with the pocket below and I felt it was way too high. One of the screws on the adjustment for the screen didn’t want to turn so I said F it and reused my old schoshe mount putting the HU in the lower DIN slot. Bonus, the pocket that came with the new faceplate popped right into place on top once I cut the notches off the sides.

That would explain it. Also explain why mine jiggles. Nothing another day in the garage ripping the dash apart can't fix.
