Is it just me or does the camera view seems far away when it comes on? I would probably only be about 4 feet from the vehicle in front of me but the camera makes it look as though it could be 6-8 feet away.

makes me not want to trust the camera at all

You can see the line of your bumper on bottom of the camera screen. That's what I go by..

Just play around with it some more, drive close to something, come outside and see how much space you have left and how it looks on the camera, you'll get used to it

The back one looks fine. It’s the front one when I pull up to someone behind a light and the object in camera seems farther then they appear. It shows I still have a lot of space left but in reality I’m close to tailgating already

The purpose of the front camera is:

    1. Take a quick peak at it before driving in case someone small sneaks in front of your truck and you won't see it (Tundra has a huge blind spot in front of the bumper)

    2. When you're parking, it'll show you if you still have some space between your front bumper and car in front of you. You have to creep slowly and watch the camera so you can judge distance by yourself.

For all other purposes or desires please look up and look through the windshield.

But yes, it does seem to give false sense of your trucks location... I still haven't gotten used to it after one year and only use it strictly as a supplemental tool to my own feeling of truck's dimensions

Forget about the camera while driving. Keep your eyes up and on the road.
If you're coming to a stop, if you can't see the back tires of the car in front of you, touching the road, you're too close.
