I wonder how this is going to affect the steam reviews for the steamdeck, and linux in general. Which were already not great.

Maybe that explains some of the issues Nvidia card users are facing with this game under the various linux platforms.

I haven't touched Linux on a personal level since the 90s when Slackware was king and Red Hat was on the rise. A few months ago, ,I happened to toss out the last Linux release I still had when I was cleaning out my old software storage (Red Hat 6 ).

But this is one thing I miss about Linux. People just wouldn't touch my computer lol.

A 4th grader in my previous district got me to download it. I'm not big into mobile app gaming though...

3 different ram manufacturers, everything overclocked to 1600mhz. Installing windows updates. Piece of cake.

 

I used to bother with overclocking. I dont even worry about it anymore though, too much time and effort involved for the minuscule reward.

 

Yes, agreed 100%. Recent CPUs and GPU's run so close to maximum performance, there's nothing left to squeeze.

My current cpu(12yrs old) can be overclocked to run 50% faster than stock without a lot of effort. You don't see that much potential left on the table anymore.

Reason I'm still using it: all games i play, run fine on it and whatever work I do on it, there is no hinderance.

Only issue I ran into, metro exodus enhanced and death stranding wont launch, because CPU lacks AVX instruction set.

 

The Metro series is some of the best stuff I've ever played. I need to read the books.

I have played a little of Death Stranding but didn't really get into it. The graphics, though, are unreal.

 

Same here. It's much easier to do these days if you get a gaming MB that is designed for it, but the risk/reward and finding the right cooler, etc., is no longer worth the effort to me.

Plus I'm no longer 25 and don't really care to have the fastest set of wheels in town.

 

Back in the day, building a little cooling setup was worthwhile because the AMD Athlon XP Barton 2500 chip could be clocked over 1ghz at the 3200's clock rates for much cheaper. Nowadays, who the hell cares if your chip running 3.8ghz on 12 cores gets up to 3.92ghz? The benefits and returns on efforts just dropped off sharply in the end of the Ghz wars.

That being said, my fiance's little desktop has been cleared of her personal files and I'm about to have Windows clean itself back to fresh install, and post the system for sale, I don't see why I wouldn't cut someone here a deal on it if interested in a compact and decent modern system. I even have all the parts boxes in my garage loft, hah. I hoard those boxes.

+1. I have them all. 2033 and LL was freebies on epic. I purchased exodus for 7.99 maybe 6 months ago.

Looking back, I kinda enjoyed first one the most. It captured the feeling of metro the best. Last light was also excellent until second part of the game where you get into supernatural stuff and follow little darkie. That bridge level where its pouring rain was gorgeous though!

Exodus I kinda have mixed feelings about. I believe underground linear levels are the best and provide the most authentic metro feel. The "open worldness" doesn't parts don't mate with the series me thinks.

@MedCityMoto , that platform can be upgraded all the way into ryzen 3xxx series I think (with mobo firmware update).

 

Wouldn't mind getting into custom liquid cooling but man that takes some bread.

 

I built one of these. Ever. It cost a ton. got me nothing over air cooling (i wasnt overclocking) and just looked pretty.

I spent hours and hours and many $ getting parts and blocks and tubing... and all the blocks are antiquated these days...

Note: I reinstalled grab. Last time I paid it, game never clicked for me. My maximum progression was that first chase scene(cars repo), after into bank robbery.

This time I reinstalled it and... surprisingly, I'm enjoying it! Trevor is a very relatable character. Also I installed "natural vision remastered".

Am I going to get desensitized to hell?

 

I loaded a late save. It has drastically altered the gameplay... the hacking guy who murders everything without thought is a thing of the past.

 

So, I played through some missions. It's definitely a different game. My body cannot take that much bad language and inappropriate scenes all at once. I feel defiled.

 

I was wondering about that, with all the changes how it would affect game saves.

I'm holding off on jumping in for now. Want to at least get through 1 playthrough of Starfield. But then again, the weekend is looming and I've been feeling crummy, so I'll be laying low, which means I'll have plenty of time to kill...

 

Its a total reset.
skills, there used to be 2 or 3 per attribute, are 1 per now. perks are very very different, as is the economy.

Oh and wait until you land on a cop car, or a cop sees you wreck into another car... Cops are everywhere and ridiculously touchy it seems. On the bright side, they are easier to wholesale slaughter now, since they are now affected by quickhacks.
