As I know I will get tons of hate here for jumping to Ford I wanted to get my early experience of the jump from Toyota to give some perspective on brand loyalty. Keep in mine I have owned and driving Toyota Trucks since I was 16 years old I am now 35 so I have been a Toyota enthusiast for 15+ years.

I traded in my 17 Platinum with a 3" Lift and 35" tires two weeks ago. While I was extremely scared of all the hate for Ford, GMC, Chevrolet and Dodge given I was a Toyota guy I decided to still test drove the following trucks. Here was my take aways:
-23 GMC Sierra AT4 3.0 BabyMax awesome truck couldnt believe it was a diesel and immediately jumped to the top of my list to buy for my next truck.
-23 Tundra 1794 drove very similar to my 17 bringing the one thing I didnt like and it was that the steering was telling me too much about what the tires were seeing on the road.
-Chevy ZR2 drove like a cheaply made boat and hated it the second I pulled out of the lot.
-F150 Tremor felt very similar to the GMC AT4 but handled more like my father in laws Raptor (go figure both are Fords) ignoring anything the road threw at it and stayed smooth.

My dad and father in law are both Ford guys always have been and I have always kept Fords off my list. Like I said I have always been a HUGE Toyota only guy but the steering and handling of my 17 Platinum was just starting to wear on me and finally had me looking into other brands. Everytime I went to get it aligned and I told the shop its very sensitive to the road in the steering I always got thats a Toyota for you. Below are the Areas i feel after two weeks this Ford in my opinion won me over the Tundra.

    Ford Tremor Wins:

-EXTREMELY QUIET Interior (Granted I know its brand new)
    -33"s off the lot
-Ride is beyond smooth and the truck drives confident no matter the condition of the road.
    -Sporty Stiffer Steering
-Tech is nuts but I also didnt buy the 23 Tundra to know if its better then it or not.
-Paint seems extremely thick (for lack of a better word) My tundra was a peeler/chipper from day 1
    - 3.5 Ecoboost is insane the power it has. Feels very scrappy like my V8 did but refined
-10 speed transmission is a world of a difference maker (I know the 23 tundra has it too)
-Tremor is a higher package and its definitely fun all the extras you get and how well they keep the theme on it

    17 Platinum Tundra Wins:
    -Cooler AC on lower speeds
-Its a Toyota and will last as you want it too (Ford to be seen but my dad and father in law have had nothing but great luck with MANY Ford trucks)
    -Resell is always insane
    - I believe customizing to be easier then the Ford but I havent done much to it yet to know.
-5.7 V8 makes the Ford 5.0 feel like a blow pig reason for buying the 3.5

There you have it my over valued opinion and take on this topic. Loved this forum and I continue will pop in here and there to share any knowledge I have on Toyota topic.

Enjoy it, I hope you get many trouble free years.

In February '21 I rented a loaded Excursion & was blown away at the power that TTV6 had, got decent MPGs on a fully loaded trip AZ to L.A.

I have an 2021 F150 Fx4 as a loaner right now. The 3.5TT is very strong. The electronics are superior for sure vs 2021 Tundra (bigger screen, wireless carplay, smoother menu). MPG has been 20+ which is nice. Cruise control is not adaptive which is a pro. Stock ride is pretty smooth. Some cons I have experienced are the electronic parking brake is annoying, in the crew cab model the window doesn’t go down/open so you can’t take long lumber easily, the engine bay is alot more cramped, the 3.5TT is stealth mode quiet, manual shift mode is harder to downshift on the fly. But overall Ford has a great design going and there are alot of packages that actually change the vehicle substantially (fp700, raptor, raptor r etc).

Thanks everyone yes it’s the avalanche color. Wife loves the color said it as to the uniqueness given we don’t see many of this color in our area especially in the Tremor. It’s a blast to drive and constantly has me smiling. Appreciate the well wishes!

Yeah I thought dodge was where it’s at if you want a domestic. I like Toyota for the resell. My ole man has a gmc 1500 2wd with more than 1 million miles on it. He would just check the fluids by hand before leaving each day.

If I had to buy a new truck, it more than likely would be the F-150. I’m no brand loyalist, but driving my dads 23 FX4, I concur with a lot of your impressions.

My 2019 Ford XLT sport 3.5 company truck with 119,000 easy miles is a POS. Tranny slips. Terrible noise at start up. (Ford says normal) cheap seats, heavy plastic interior. Granted, it’s not a high level trim but it will be low on my list when I shop for a new company truck.
I’m going to wait for the new Ram TT engine and test drive those. The interior is far superior IMO.
I hope you have better luck with yours. It’s definitely a good looking truck.

Those hurricane engine BOOOGIES, wagoneers shouldn't move that fast and yet they do, I know guys in Australia have figure out 8hp conversion on Toyotas, I hope they'll do 3UR, I'll be one of the first to sign up for that.

Before I bought my 2018 Tundra, I was super close to pulling the trigger on a 5.0 F150. I thought it drove way better than the Tundra, and at the time had a better interior/tech. I ended up getting the Tundra for reliability, and sure enough I get the cam tower leak at ~7,000 miles, the dealer messes something up during the repair and they end up buying back the Tundra. Go figure.

Probably, I would never touch any FCA products during first 12-14 months production, the Hemi e-torque had such high failure rate during first year of production it was pretty ridiculous.

My biggest complaint with my Tundra was the ride. It was not smooth. Went through 3 different lifts, 4 sets of tires and 3 different wheel set ups and it only helped a little each time. I finally was over it and just drove it until I could figure out what to jump into next. I rented a Ram 1500 Limited for work and liked it alot but the tech glitched out WAY too much on me in just 3 days. The GMC AT4 I believe I wouldve been equally happy, I just feel this truck is a little flashier then the GMC so overall it won the battle of the buy. To sum up this truck in the past 2 weeks in one word it is smooth. It is smooth no matter what and there are no crazy rattles (Knock on Wood) or the truck starting to dart from where I am telling it to go. My Tundra just never acted that way and as far as the transmission goes this truck is effortless running down the freeway compared to the 17 Tundra. When I test drove the 23 Tundra I made sure to hit the really chew up roads by the dealership and I couldn't believe how much it reminded me of the 17 and I knew that I would be doing a lift and wheels to it down the line which made me worried the same result would return. The biggest thing my wife and I could relate this "tundra feeling" is that the steering is just sensitive and I felt it was the same on the 23. My Ford's steering is tight like my wife's Mercedes and I love that feeling.

I used to be die hard anti-Ecoboost, but Fords had oil consumption issues on the 5.0’s and for the most part, they seem to have worked out most of the issues that plagued the earlier 2.7 and 3.5’s. I wouldn’t hesitate getting either.

I have a love/hate relationship with my Tundra. I feel like it’ll never strand me as long as I do basic maintenance, but it is so unrefined feeling compared to other options out there.
