    I have a 2019 SR5 2wd crew.5.7

My question is how safe is it to wash under the hood?
Can I get anything wet not allowing it to run?

Not Tundra specific but I've seen a general recommendation to cover the alternator and fuse box, though I've seen demonstrations of folks dousing the alternator with full force of water and no issue.

Everything in there is designed to handle getting wet. When it's bad enough, I've rinsed it off with a garden hose.
Just don't do the obvious: rinse it with your air intake open, don't use a pressure washer on the fuse box, etc.

A trigger sprayer bottle with a simple green diluted solution, a variety of brushes, a good compressed air nozzle with gentle pressure, and about 4 cold brews will clean things up really well. Just take your time and reach in with different types of brushes to scrub. Then blow it down and out as you go.

Simple Green can harm some alloys. I wash it cold by spraying it with engine cleaner, sponging with soapy water and rinsing. Be careful not to spray directly into alternator and fuse box. Afterward I dry with leaf blower and drive it till engine is hot and dry.

I think this is very much the case and you'll be ok if those items get wet.

300 hectares on single tank of kerosene
You can run a high pressure wand on it, but don't concentrate it. I mean DONT use a 4600 psi rig, but a DIY car wash is okay. Sweep back and forth quickly and know what you're spraying.

Do it all the time. Aluminum safe Simple green and garden hose couple times a year. Regular Simple Green is harmless but can discolor Al parts. Purely a personal feeling with zero facts to support it but a pressure washer would seem more likely to enter bad spots.

If you can handle his tone of voice and overall delivery...........here's how to Get 'Er Done without the hose pipe as 2mchfun made mention above.

When I wash out my engine bay with a garden hose, I have the engine running. I don't use any additional products, just water.

Get some mountain bike specific cleaner like muc off and use brushes like others have said. it works amazingly well and is very gentle on the sensitive bits.

I use presoak at a car wash bay on low pressure and then rinse low pressure ...do it about once a year. Not perfectly clean but stays ahead of it.

Yup - it's this stuff. Simple Green themselves say to use this instead of the green on aluminum.

yuppers, that’s it. I use it in an untlrasonic cleaner,to clean my carbs when they are gummed up. Works great, and won’t tarnish alloy
