Umm, I don't have kids, but I don't think you are supposed to bathe them in the toilet!

The toilet is right next to the tub, they can lift the toilet seat while standing in the tub. The wife will be clearing out any bath toys smaller than a tennis ball tonight.

Dining room is getting there. I did two rounds of skim coating today and decided that I don't really care that much if the walls aren't perfect. It kinda goes with all of my other projects.

    IMG_3533.jpg

Ignore the dark spots - those are shadows from the shit stacked up in the center of the room. The stupid window frame is gone, ghost be damned!

    IMG_3535.jpg

Oh yeah, we picked out the chair rail and the cap for the floorboards last week.

    IMG_4921.jpg

So all I have left to do is sand a little, prime, cut and hang trim stuff, caulk, and paint! :(

Lightly sanded a few of the blemishes on the wall and it’s like glass. So I ordered a 20 foot shop vac hose to hook up to my hand sander. These 12 foot ceilings are a bitch.

I was testing it out before I skim coated and it almost suctions my orbital sander to the side of the wall. :D

After building and living here for 7 years, we finally did our pantry. With a 5th on the way in November, we decided to get this done before. It's about 17' deep, 6' wide, and has 9' tall ceilings. The wire shelves were a 7 year "temporary" fix. Got my brother in law to build the wooden shelves. Now to just stock it up with some bulk shopping at Sam's.

We also moved some appliances in the pantry to open up some room in our kitchen's cabinets. Love this part.

Looks awesome. When we bought our current place it had no pantry, so I framed one up in the existing entry from the garage / laundry room. It was high on the Mrs. wish list.

Just finished our basement bathroom refresh. New flooring, vanity, toilet, paint, wallpaper and whatever you call the wall trim. My wife did 80% of the work. Really proud of her. She wanted to tackle it herself.

We're really unsure why they put an electrical receptacle on the wall near the toilet and shower.

Can anyone guess what the floor is?

Pretty much. They are peel and stick "tiles". She added grout to complete the look. I'm impressed with how it turned out and the best part is that it's not cold on your feet like tile. It stays frosty down in the basement. I think the total cost for the floor was under $150.

This is another builder repair. Our back patio was not as bad as the driveway, but it had holes, pits, and excessive washed areas of aggregate that we wanted it replaced. Easier said than done. They came with a Diamond saw and cut the area to be removed into 2x2 ft sections approximately. We kept a section of the old patio that supported the above balcony, as it surface was not that bad in that area and did not want to screw with the structure. The old concrete there was about 8 inches thick. IMG_6221.jpg IMG_6290.jpg IMG_6305.jpg IMG_6306.jpg IMG_6307.jpg IMG_6311.jpg IMG_6316.jpg They were able to remove sections without a jackhammer, just a big sledge hammer and pry bar. They used a small pumper hose on the ground, from the front cto the back of the house. It’s still drying, so later this week they are to come back an clean up. I’ll be glad when that is done.

Got the walls of the dining room skimmed, sanded, put 2 coats of primer, and then found a spot I didn't smooth so I sanded that down again and will prime it when I prime the crown moulding, doors, window, and trim.

I finished getting all of the new trim up. Like an idiot, I put the base caps on the baseboard but didn't check to see if it was level. Then I based the chair rail off of that. The height difference in the baseboards is about 3/4 from one side of the room to the other. Pulled it all down and floated it level around the room. That created a new problem of a big fucking gap under it and some of the baseboard. So back to Lowes to buy some smaller trim to cover the gap. :spending:

Anywho, got all of the new trim shit in today. I need to figure out the wainscoting boxes (mock it up for my wife's approval) and fill holes, caulk, prime, and paint. Progress. :)

A pic from when I started getting the new quarter round down.

You still have brown furniture? I figured everything has gotten a white wash by now so it will look "farmy". We tried to sell a dinning set when we moved, then we tried to give it away but ended up donating it to hospice house.

On a side note...we sold our house and a lot of stuff in it a month or so ago. One thing that I thought was hilarious:

    - Offer stuff online for free - no one would touch it
    - Post the SAME sh*t a few days later and ask $30 for it - people would almost literally fight over it.

It's like posting it for free made people assume it was complete crap, but posting it with a price made people think they were getting a huge deal. :notsure:

Oh, no. The furniture in that room was all built in the 1800's. The dining room chairs need some refinishing but I believe they are 1820's and have the original horsehair still stuffed inside of them (one of the reasons why haven't refinished them).

    That's our "old" room.

I got sick of laying around playing video games and waiting to feel better. I started on the wainscotting boxes. Pain in the ass. :( I ain't no carpenter but I'm pretty good with the old caulk gun. Gonna be even better when this is all said and done.

Decided to do little boxes near the doorways (except for the left side of the kitchen entry way) and the rest will be larger. Hopefully.

This is the same scenario when I was thinning out the house/garage a couple of years ago. Charging $10 for an item was easier than free sometimes.
