So we've tried two different toilets and neither will fit. The back of the bowl hits the wall and won't allow it to rest flat on the floor. I'm assuming we need to go buy one with a 10" rough in instead of 12"? I thought buying a toilet with a bowl that was 4" shorter would do it, but no.

We also switched from an elongated bowl to a round bowl and that didn't work. Suggestions?

If I have to replace a toilet, I'm going to Canada to find something that actually flows water. These American sippers don't flush the drain lines to my standards.

The American Standards work well and never get clogged. You can replace the elevated flapper with an earlier model to flush more.

I just picked up a kohler, hopefully I don’t run into the same problems as Erik.
Supposedly kohler is fully coated into the p trap and it’s got a bigger throat than other toilets. I’ll give it a test drive later tomorrow

Oh, I'm way past that point, but it's a nice though.

    "Made in Mexico"
    By "American" standard.

    Honestly, you cannot beat Toto.

MIL is a designer. Made us get one. I found she's right on two things:
    1. Speakman makes the best shower heads, hands-down. Even their water saver heads will beat your ass down.
    2. Toto makes the best toilets, hands down. Even the low-water versions flush like a goddamn rocket and blast the biggest shits down the pipes.
I laughed at her because they're more than the American Standard I personally wanted to replace with. I'll never go back.

I hate 12” potties, even without kids involved. You f’s who need 12” should exercise more :)

I’m a big fan of Kohler Wellworth. Comes in round and elongated.

Screw 'em. They messed up so much stuff when we remodeled downstairs, including expecting us to walk out with half a toilet because their warehouse shipped three toilet bottoms for three different customers (me included), but shipped no tanks.

"We'll locate it and get it back to you, don't worry"

Yeah, the hell you are. You'll be giving me a refund, because I'm not walking out without a complete toilet, you're not putting me on the hook like that. If you can't even get me a full toilet correctly, how am I supposed to trust you to give a full refund on half a toilet that you didn't fulfill?!

    Naw dog. Not today.

What's your measure from the edge of the wall to the center of the flange? And how thick is your trim, like, how far out does it stand from the wall?

10". So that was our issue. Today I learned.

We went from a $95 toilet to $250. Now the wax seal fun begins.

To the above point from @bfunke though, clean the flange well to inspect for cracks. I don't see what he sees, but easier to fix now than later.

Ferguson plumbing supply is worlds better than Home Depot for potties.
