My parents in law seem to always end up near folks like that and my FIL handles it much the same way.

Is that like how I can't let my kids play in my yard because my neighbours are only using cannabis in their yard so mine stinks?

Was raised in Drain. Camped at Bullard's a few times back in the day. The Oregon coast has some of the best campgrounds anywhere. No idea how it is now. Off season is the best time but there is that weather issue. Ha!

Well I waited almost 2 hours past quiet time so I thought it was appropriate. :)

It's appropriate any time. Most of our parks have signs "no excessive noise at ANY time".

That doesn't stop yahoo's from blaring their music that you can hear at the other end of the campground or screaming on the dock, every time they jump in the water.

I hope to find some "off grid" or remote camping areas soon. The less people I see, hear and now smell camping, the better.

Park staff are useless now too. It seems they don't want to ruffle any feathers and tell campers to keep quiet, keep the no wake zone a no wake zone, get their 4th tent off the site or move their 3rd vehicle parked on the road. It's chaos in Ontario the past few years.

That's unfortunate. Hopefully you won't have to travel too far to get away from some of that.

Custom bug spat pattern hood, grill & bumper. Dead Live Oak leaf collection under hood, cowl and lower fenders. Beach sand custom floor covering.
Some of the highlights from last winter were: Kids taking a long handled net and beating to pieces a oyster shell wind chime made by a camper, kids pulling up crab traps multiple times a day, a young mother busy on her cell phone while her kid dropped trow and whizzed off the walkway to the fishing pier and one boaters insisted on bringing his boat in after midnight and right in front of his camp pulled the water hose out and rinsed the saltwater out of his motor. There's nothing like the ring-ding-da-ding of a 150 HP two stroke outboard to wake the campers up

as this is the Camping Grinch post, I totally support your anger towards cannibas smoke at campgrounds.

    Agreed!

I usually get along great with my camp neighbors.

Then again, they're usually somewhere... Over there... (I think)

Heh, I remember my dad complaining about inconsiderate neighboring campers in established campgrounds way back in the 70s. While the LED lanterns and string lights weren't around back then, drunkards talking loudly while playing 8 Tracks were just as annoying. When I got a bit older, my friends and I would pile into a friend's beat up truck and camp out in the National Forest or BLM lands. They call it primitive or dispersed camping these days but it was just regular old camping to us. Need a toilet? Here's a shovel and a roll. Want a bath? Here's washcloth and a canteen.

When I joined the Marine Reserves, my unit spent 10 out 12 monthly weekend drills and the 2 week annual training out in the lovely fields of Camp Pendleton or 29 Palms. After my contract ended, I rarely had time to camp due to work and family demands. But now that I'm retired and single, I've started meandering around the local BLM lands with my rockhounding club. Mostly daytrips but we have a few overnight camping trips lined up this season.

Here's a spot called Beacon Hill from last year.

Established campgrounds are great, they are like a containment zone for city people.

With our newer camper trailer we have hit a variety of camping from established rv campgrounds, state parks and state forest primitive campgrounds. I enjoy the primitive campgrounds the best for quiet.

My favorite camping is boat-in tent camping in Voyageurs National Park on the MN/Ontario border.
Throw your gear and coolers into your boat and head to a rural island campsite, some about 40 miles away on the water from your vehicle. The lakes are massive with the chain we camp on being 65 miles of water from end to end.
Rainy Lake to the north swallows that.
Campsites have tent pads, table, firepit, outdoor toilet, bear boxes for coolers and food and some have docks for the boat.
By far the most private and quiet camping we have done.

So cool! I've flown all over that area. Would love to have the time and access to the waterways of Ontario. True remote camping.
