Is this strictly for Starfield or just in general?

oops, i mean, buy bumpershellz, they are awesome and make your truck look not stupid because chrome sucks.

 

*Bumpershellz may or may not bolster framerates due to reducing the number of shadow and reflection draws necessary for the GPU

 

I'm using it in RDR2. It goes into main directory. Most likely similar in starfield. Doesnt hurt to try after backing up original first.

Geforce experience might have updated it for you(maybe). I think you need a mod to enable dlss 9n starfield in the first place, though.

Except the problem is, it doesn't look like Starfield supports DLSS... yet. At least I can't find any option to set it. Hopefully that's on the horizon, along with HDR and Super Ultra Wide (32:9 aspect) monitor support.

The guy who created the mod is very well-known in the modding community. I wouldn't trust a cracked version, having grown up in the LimeWire era.

Correct. Cracked anything may be questionable, but paid mod is from legitimate gang. It's sad we arent getting it from developers.

While all the cool gang is flying in space this Friday evening, I'm crawling around Moscow sewers like some rat.

 

So, I have a buddy trying to get me to play Baldur's Gate 3... I have mixed feelings. Has anyone played it? Anyone that can shed light on some of these points, it'd be appreciated.

Using the numbers so you can just quote this post and reference the number for the point you are addressing.

1. I've never played D&D. I've never played the previous BG games. I'm not sure how much that matters, but it's something I think on.
2. It's turn based combat, and that's not a bad thing. I loved the original FFVII and it was my first real RPG experience. I'm also afraid it'll be more like Dragon age, that I just could not get into. I tried a few times, but the game play was just not there for me. It felt clunky compared to the old FF games.
3. I'm a filthy casual. Sure, I will kill a day off in front of a screen, but it's casual stuff that I don't need to think heavily about. I'm just keeping my brain occupied enough that I don't have wondering thoughts. It's all about the escapism, and this game seems to be geared more toward caring about the characters and relationship sculpting dialogue options... part of what killed Dragon Age for me. I hated the "talk to your party members to advance the story, and you might be able to flirt with all of them" crap.
4. I tend to run a game for a while, then set it aside for long periods (weeks, months, or even a year for some) and some are a bit to complex or demanding in their controls or concepts to be picked back up easily. Did this with the Witcher 3. After killing that stupid Gryphon for the 12th time, and getting tired of the repeated scenes/gameplay, I quit playing it altogether. The few spoiler free videos I've watched on BG3 make me think this is one of those "hard to pick back up without a tutorial" games.
5. If a game is too open ended I tend to wander around and get lost or forget what I was doing or planning. This results in me restarting similar to point 4. While I like some freedom to play in the sandbox, not having a clear path to get back onto at any time can cause me to lose interest. Diablo 4 is a good example of being kinda open world, but you've got an easy to follow quest log and map markers to get back on track after being distracted.
6. My buddy wants to buy the game for me. I bought Diablo for him because he was in a tight spot, and I know he just wants to pay it back and have somebody to play the game with, but I hate gifts. I wind up feeling obligated to use/keep gifts or reciprocate, even if I don't like the gift. It generally triggers a negative response similar to being under pressure to enjoy something. It's like the first time somebody you love is cooking for you. You wind up just hoping like crazy that it doesn't taste bad, and hoping that if it does you can maintain composer and not spit it out or grimace. This taints it so even if it is good, you hate the experience. Anyone else feel this way? No? Just me then?
7. With all of that, I am trying to be less selfish. I love my buddy like a brother. He's been dealing with a lot of crap for the last few years and I don't want to hurt his feelings. I'm thinking about just holding my nose and getting the game, and playing it with him just to hang out. I may hate it, I may love it, but I'm trying to be a good friend to a good friend.

 

1. D&D is great, been around for 50 years, with tons of lore and story built into it already for them to draw upon. It makes for a very rich world. BG1&2, Icewind Dale 1&2, Planescape Torment... All were amazing games with well written story lines.

That being said. I do not have the game, but do have a couple hours of watching some friends stream the game while I am playing another game. It looks great, its on my list.

4. These style games, tend to take current active memory to recall where you were, they get hard to put down and pick up weeks later. Older versions (Torment ,IWD) were more linear, and could more easily be picked up and put down. I play like this also, the newer ones have all made me work for that opt out of that game for a bit time... Ive started writing notes of where I was with them, think Pathfinder Wrath of Righteous was easier than Pathfinder Kingmaker, but Pillars of Eternity, was not harder than Wrath for this. Its to the point where I have a page and half of notes for Pillars sitting here to recall where I was at when I last played. ----- Take this with a shaker of salt of course... Your experience may be different.

 

I've got a shameful number of hours into Baldurs Gate 3. I also loved Dragon Age. I don't believe you're likely to get into BG3 if you didn't like Dragon Age which was, frankly, not as nit picky at character management BUT! You can totally play it on easy mode and wander through the gameplay.

If you've got no D&D experience and you're not interested in learning it, that'll make for a more challenging BG3 experience. You are frequently placed in a position where you need too either know what you're doing, or miss out on a bunch of the game itself.

 

Yeah, I'm looking into reviews, and the more I see the less I like. Mechanics seem ok, but the game appears to be another push of agendas as well. I'm probably going to pass on it.

 

I can delightedly state for certain that unless that agenda is "fuckin kill those goblins right in their stupid faces" then it requires deliberate effort to find another.
