I mean, when stuff like this happens to us, I try to remind myself: Could've been worse. Could be homeless. But yeah, that sucks ass, no matter how you slice it.

If the body and frames of these trucks stay rust free, how long could they potentially last and retain the good ride quality etc? I know manufacturers have a predicted lifespan or whatever they call it but say you rebuilt the engine if needed after 500k plus miles, but as long as parts are available they could last forever right?

I just got an 06 DC and it is honestly the absolute perfect sized vehicle and I love it. For my needs it’s basically irreplaceable with anything new that’s offered today. I don’t care if it’s worth anything on the market in 10 years, the value to me is invaluable.

I guess it depends where you live. Southern trucks will eventually need plastic parts & northern trucks will eventually need steel parts.

i'm still hoping the 3d printing community will take over alot of the discontinued plastic parts.

I've got 330k on mine, as well as a few others. There's a few pushing 400 and 500k. Yes, they will last with proper maintenance.

This puts things into perspective for me:

Toyota designed the Land Cruiser to run 300k-500k miles on the harshest of geographic locations and climates. From Asia, to Oceana, to South America, to Africa.

Now it's my belief that even though the American market is a bit softer, I still think a sizable amount of that same work ethic that Toyota put into the Land Cruiser found it's way into the the American Toyota truck offerings.

I think the proof is in the handful of million mile T100's, Tacomas, and Tundras.

I'm going to guess someone in Pelham AL "knows what they've got" with this laughably-overpriced 1st Gen. Asking California pricing for something 4WD-and-fully loaded for this 2WD Limited with cloth seats. What a joke. But hey, the timing "chain" was done 40k miles ago and it has steering wheel controls, amirite? And with the Wyoming plate on the front, I'm sure you get a good little bit of rust on the frame to go with the extra bumper holes you didn't ask for.

I'm tempted to email and tell them they missed the pandemic pricing spike by about 18 months and are a little late to the party. But I'll be a nice shifty, and keep it mostly to myself.

We need a thread for "laughable CL/FB for-sale listings" or something.

Yeah, that’s about a $10-12k truck. More power to him if he can get it. May not really even care if it sells. May just be fishing.

Shoot, I’d be a fool not to sell mine if I could get $20k for it.

It's annoying when dudes blame their wives for things like this. If false, it's a dick move. If true, it sounds like a terrible marriage.

I'd sell my 2wd 03 for anything I deemed reasonable. But if anyone wants to buy my 4wd 06, they better bring enough cash for me to buy a home.

The whole truck has signs of good use. Interior pieces are scratched and yes, the underside look way worse than mine and mine was a NC truck for 22 years.
