Hello sorry if this has been covered but i couldnt find anything looking around.
    I have a 2004 Tundra Limited V8 DC.
Recently hit a huge pot hole going like 40 mph on a dark road, City was doing road work earlier in the day and decided putting a cone or sign out was too much work.
ANYWAYS, Back driver side wheel hit it pretty hard, damaged my step pretty bad It also pulled the screws out of the ceiling for the media player, Tried to fix it and ended up sending a screw through the roof...yeah really. So here i am on my hands and knees begging the tundra gods that someone has an easyish fix , hopefully not too much $$ :(.
Im really just trying to get the media player off the ceiling without ruining anything electrical or starting a fire also if someone has any ideas for what to do with the gaping hole it would leave open haha. Thanks for reading , If anymore info is needed pls let me know i will respond ASAP!

    Dang!
    (1) Call City and complain about pothole, ask who you can talk to about paying for damage to your vehicle
    (2) Aftermarket thingy falling off....man no idea. See if you can find an installation guide online for that model to see where the screw holes are.
    (3) Screw through roof--back it out and seal with some silicon? Also we need to see pics of the screw through the roof. (Insert Rocket Raccoon "I need that guy's leg" meme.)

The media player came with the limited double cab, i got the truck from my grandpa but maybe the dealership or something installed it? I thought it was stock though not 100%.

As for the holy grail image.jpg

Should be easy to seal and i need new paint anyway, im worried about taking off the media player and closing off those wires, also not too sure what ill do once it is off. Maybe its better to just resecure it better and leave it up?

Re-attaching the player should be doable but if you remove it, the ceiling would look gaudy unless you replace the liner.
With it hanging can you see the Model number, wondering how it was initially mounted.

Honestly that might be my best bet is to just reattach it, if i use smaller screws i should be able to attach it without adding anymore death spikes to my roof....LOL. Currently out doing errands but ill post the model number when i get home this evening. So weird finding out its aftermarket , i always thought the truck came with it.....No wonder i couldnt find any info

Did the stereo shop installer use a sheet rock screw? Assume you are not original owner.

LOL hard lesson learned but now i can learn to repair and seal the hole! Haha this is my first truck and it took my 2 years to truly appreciate it and treat it how it deserves to be treated. Currently in the process of getting her back in tip top shape luckily its mostly minor stuff.

@BOLLIN - appears the media player was secured to a piece of MDF sandwiched between headliner and roof. You have several options to reattach it. If you can remove a section of headliner to remove the MDF, then I would drill and secure T-nuts to the upper surface of the MDF board. I can't tell how this was done originally so this may be difficult to do. Another option would be to just using course threaded inserts designed for use with MDF. These are inserts that have coarse screw threads on the outside and nut threads on the inside. Be sure to predrill being careful not to drill through your roof. Place tape around you drill bit at the desired depth. Finally you could drill out the damage screw holes and glue in a small dowel which you can then predrill and use a new screw. Again don't go beyond the upper face of the MDF. You need to repair the holes in the roof. I don't think anyone makes plugs that small. Correct fix is to TIG or MIG weld it but again that requires removing headliner. Temporarily you could use silicone/RTV or even JB weld. I had a friend who used JB well, sanded it and touchup sprayed it. You would never know it was fixed if you saw it. Let us know your progress.

My truck I would RIP out the entire headliner, fix the roof and get a new headliner but you may not want to invest that much time and money.

image.jpg Got it up the best i could! Doesnt jingle or rattle too much yet but we will see if im biting my words in a week. Thanks so much for your guys help, for sure long term plan is to get rid of this damn this and have a flush roof. Need some maintenance, paint, and then an exhaust. Then maybe ill be able to invest the money into that BS...THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE! Still got that step damage but i think ill just bang it straight and live with it. Aslong as someone doesnt put their full body weight on the end it should hold up!

You know you can go after most cities/municipalities over that, right? Hopefully not too late, I see it's already rusting which means it happened at least some days ago. But there's typically a form to fill out, and reimbursement comes later.

I'd pull the nerf bars, maybe a PDR guy can get the body straight without bondo, then just have a shop paint.

Can't hurt, the only thing you're wasting is time.
