To the original statement, was the air filter P/N 17801-0P100 ? Just wanting to make sure. Many times Toyota comes out with an "economy" line of parts designated with YZZ in the P/N. After a time this can also become the only P/N available as with our and pretty much every oil filter in their line of vehicles. Just curious if you received a different P/N.

I can confirm this. I bought a filter and got home to install it and it was half as thick. I returned it to Toyota and told them they gave me the wrong filter. The parts guy said they are phasing out the old one out to save money. Buy them online while you can!

More interested if others around the country are still having this issue. Just bought one last week here in the Phoenix area and it was the same normal size as always. Due to this thread sent parts guy back and bought three. Hoping this was more of a one off mistake or something that has actually changed.

I just recently purchased 17801-0P100 and it's the same as factory. My guess is the OP was sold an economy line filter I don't believe he ever put the part number in this thread that I could see.

Yep. I should have paid more attention to that. I think you're absolutely correct.
