When was your "stop sale" built? If it was June 2023 or later, it's likely to already have the fix they put on my truck. See post #293.

It's such an easy thing to check, once you know where to look.

May 8th, so unfortunately affected. Apparently it was a bonus allocation to my dealer so was sitting for a bit and I had one person ahead of me on the wait-list who turned it down. If I had jumped to the dealer on August 9th to finish paperwork when I was told it was available I would have avoided all this. What a difference a day makes :frusty:

Damn, that sucks, man. I remember how excited I was when mine finally came in. I was at the dealership about an hour after the call. Haha.

This fire hazard recall seems like such a non-issue to me. A simple 2- way plastic clip, that would keep the lines separated, is all that's really needed, IMO. A person with small arms and hands could probably install it in about 2 minutes without dropping the tank.

service dept at my local dealer told me today that the fix letters for recall would be released in "waves" so as not to overwhelm dealer service departments. ??? Oldest first or luck of the draw on who gets it done earliest. May 1st build date for me. Who knows maybe I will get my second FOB at the same time - not! GL to all.

This is my first foray with a recall-based stop sale. I'm fairly certain that it would be overly optimistic to expect any information to trickle out to dealerships on a short holiday week, but the week after will be more than a full month since my sale was paused because of this issue. Does anyone with previous recall insight know if there's a priority put on resolving stop-sale inventory before general rollout? Not saying I'm impatient but... I'm impatient.

It was only a matter of time. NHTSA / Toyota should issue a "Stop driving and park outside and away from buildings" order.

Yes and no. Sure, we don't know what started that fire. But I wouldn't say it's knee jerk given the fact there is an active recall for the fuel line. Maybe if there wasn't an active recall...

Assuming that you looked in the right place. Toyota hasn't issued any official repair instructions and all the discussion here about the possible location(s) is pure speculation. Until we can see the exact repair instructions, it's all conjectures.
Just wait until somebody dies and Toyota will have another billion dollar lawsuit in hand. Just like with the unintended sudden acceleration. But Toyota never cared about safety ... it's a well known problem with Toyota, they won't move a finger unless there is a class action lawsuit or they are forced by the government. Toyota corporate ethics are the worst in the automotive industry.

When shit goes wrong , and it will building complex machines , Toyota comes through more than anyone, yes it may take a while because they get the fix right , but in my experience they are the best , that’s a portion of why they get my money

I don't think it's speculation at all. The recall notice clearly states the problem is where a fuel line and brake line cross and could possibly rub. Another member found a location that matches that description. On my June 2023 build, which is not included in the recall, the brake line has a protective sleeve that is not present on the earlier builds. Unless it's coincidence (not likely), I'm pretty sure we've nailed down the location, and have a clear idea of what Toyota's fix is.

The solution is to not have parts touching as dirt caught between the parts is the abrasive that wears the plastic fuel line. In the image, the protective sleeve is on the metal line - seems odd as it's the plastic fuel (vent ?) line that's the concern and should be protected.

Waiting for the answer from Toyota.

New to Toyota world, historically how are recalls like this prioritized for solution? Field population or "No sale" lot cars repaired first?

Yes, My challenge is a 1794 hybrid Mesquite/cream as the base. A unicorn, or so it seems. Have reserve on one stuck in recall, otherwise slim pickings. I would prefer a '24 as the fuel gauge issue is solutioned.

I have a late 22 build and haven't had the fuel gauge issue. Or if I did, it auto resolved.

A bit off topic. Since vehicles born 6/23 and newer are not in the recall, is this due to design change (or keeping supplier in spec) to the fuel line(s) or different tank assembly /sub system that would include the fuel level fix? I realize the fuel gauge error is small percentage of vehicles and is not a major factor in which vehicle I decide on as warranty will cover it.

hmm.. wonder the source this reporter has - https://www.motorbiscuit.com/lawsuit-alert-toyota-tundra-literally-facing-heat/

"Reportedly, the fuel line system may malfunction within the first two years of ownership, but the average fuel line should last during the vehicle’s entire lifespan.
Toyota issued a recall to correct this issue for free, but it only involves adding fasteners to some fuel lines. "

i am guessing a new fuel tank (or fuel sensor(s) locations) to resolve the issue of the 22-23 fuel sensor issue, hence the different location of the fuel lines ???

Mine starting leaking fuel due to this recall, they kept the truck until October saying a temporary solution would become available and they could not give me a loaner pick up only a rental through hertz! Anyone going thru this as well?

Well, that is a open question.
Showing my impatience as I'm currently stuck behind a no-sale. May be to my advantage as prices seem to be coming down, perhaps getting a June/July build is better than a March build.
