If I do, it'll be the fourth 5vz truck I've owned. I got nothing on your stable

Alright I dunno wtf I was smoking last night. I walked into the garage this morning, gave one swift push like I did probably a dozen times or more last night *poof* in line, no prob. Maybe because I boltef the knuckle to the UCA last night before calling it quits and having the knuckle flopping was causing the TRE/LBJ binding?

only to find I need to either jack up the other side of the truck (which’ll suck, I’m in a really confined space) or remove the TRE so I can turn and get the CV out of the path of the bolt.

I had the same thing and reversing the bolt direction is the easy fix.

Huh. I was always taught bolts are directionally placed for a reason. I still think the easiest route will be u bolting the UBJ and employing an extra set of hands to pry. Sadly, as stupid as it feels, I can’t find my GD prybar.

Huh. General consensus on the internet is “backwards is fine”. Learn something new every day.

Humbling experience. To say the least.

Is reversing the bolt not a matter of potentially damaging the CV? If I could just tilt the top of the knuckle away from the truck to tilt the CV upward, this would slide in the right way, no problem.

Ah! That’s the problem from last night.

if I unbolt the knuckle from UCA, then tilt to 10 o’clock so the CV Axle is out of the way of the lower shock bolt install, I bind on the damn tie rod/LBJ.

So basically two options. (A) Pop the tie rod so you can rotate the CV up and out of the way, then insert the lower shock bolt while prying, or (B) install the lower shock bolt backwards, which will be a pain in the ass to torque.

with the lift kit i think your fine. stock, it would make contact with the axle (at full compression)

Unbolting the TRE is one of the first things I do when disassembling the front end of my truck. Why are you not willing to do so? It would have made things so much easier.

Yeah, saw similar on YouTube; some guy doing a Sequoia, flipped the arm out. Was the first thing I found when fighting with it last time. With TRE attached there was no way in hell I was getting there. Hindsight 20/20, live and learn for the next time. But honestly, it isn’t that painful to pull the knuckle either, it’s so freaking easy just to lay the knuckle down, slap on the press, then zip off the BJ with an impact. Added all of 20, maybe 30 minutes to the job in reality? (Per side)

MIM guessing it’ll only take maybe an hour-30 to get the other side done. Learned a lot this go-round. First time tearing down a new-to-you vehicle always takes a little extra. Just glad I still have all my tools.

I wanted black like Elka uses. When I asked them if they would do silver or black, I got left on read. Dunno man.
