    The shortage didn't start until build dates in late October. If you only got one key prior to this, that was a dealership issue, not Toyota.

    Just scheduled for tomorrow afternoon to get my second fob. My local dealer already had the parts on hand for the "recall."

    Edit: Just kidding... Received a call a few minutes later saying that they will have to order the fob. Oh well, what's a couple more weeks?

    Called this morning and have an appointment to have it programmed next Thursday. :)
    They are ordering one right now and said 2-3 days to receive it.

    Lol, almost 9 months to the day from buying, and my Tundra is finally giving birth to a 2nd key fob!

    I got the same app notice - and looked for the faq ? but can't find it - I'm assuming it's the chart posted earlier. so, I called one dealer I deal with - and it's a week to order a new fob, and 1-3 days after that, to get a service appt to program it. I called my nearest dealer and they have sent me from service, to parts, back to service... and I'm waiting for their return call. what a mess. They're clueless it seems. Sounded like Parts knew what was up, but service didn't.

    That sucks, I called service, got put on hold while she called parts, waited 2 minutes on hold and then set the appointment for the day I wanted to come in next week.

    Well what do you know. They actually did come up with something by the end of August. Dangled a Carrot at least but not delivery. ** I didnt receive this notice in my Toyota App and my truck is listed.

    Called my dealer, service bounced me to the parts department, they had to order it (should arrive Tuesday) and place a repair order...will call tomorrow to confirm that it was done and get scheduled for programming.

    December 2022.

    I'm wondering of calling the service dept and saying you got the notice will expedite receipt for those of us who got the truck this year. It may be tied to VIN and they can see it in the system, but maybe not.

    So, my December build VIN apparently came up to get my second fob and I got the app notice... So, I called the dealer today and the service scheduling person seemed to be oblivious to this issue. I explained that the fob probably needed to be ordered and she wanted to transfer me to the parts dept. I said NO, this is a Toyota campaign to supply second fobs that were not available at purchase and you, the dealer, need to obtain it. Oh. So, I am not getting a warm fuzzy here. I made an appointment 2 weeks out which is my next availability but I will be sure to call ahead to make sure they have the part. I am also trying to get the tonneau cover recall done at the same time. Hope this stuff doesn't take all day.

    I went through the parts department yesterday (after getting the same response from Service), they ordered the fob (arrives on Tuesday) and would create the repair order.

    I don't know if they actually created the repair order or not, but I just scheduled an appointment with service for Tuesday afternoon (preempted the call and told them the fob was ordered) to get it programmed.

    If I'm in the area later today/tomorrow, I may stop in just to verify everything is on track...

    Seemed that way, they said they already had a few other calls that day and knew they had to go into another system to check the VIN. Although he seemed to imply that it had to be done in person via a repair order, but he would do it via phone for me

    I was not billed, nor was a payment method asked for/presented.

    Seems like an odd process for a Toyota campaign. The service writer has my VIN. They should arrange this. But I will check back next week to see if it is on track or not.

    It's tied to the VIN, so if you don't have the notice in the app, I'd say chances are slim they will skip this check/order it for you.

    Makes sense. You'd think if they tracked everything by VIN they'd be able to identify that mine did not come with the tonneau cover, so I could finally get that notice off the app.

    After ordering my second fob yesterday, got a call about 2 hours ago that it arrived and I am currently sitting in the waiting area for it to be programmed. Now that's what I call service!

    That was one exception because the tonneau covers could have been a dealer installed option and not had it from the factory. So they were notifying and checking every Tundra to be sure.

    I've had that AJT cover on my original fob for so long,I forgot what the OEM fob even looked like. Now I'm gonna have to order a new AJT or MESO case for the new one. First world problems!

    I have 23 Platinum got it in June, build date in May, doing vacation trips and wanted another in case lost mine and wifey would have the other one. So I got in touch with Car Key Express and bought a fob, they said they get them from OEM new, took it to Locksmith and they did their magic and it works. I called back asked the Supervisor about it being OEM, said they get them from them OEM.
    So it makes me wonder how they are getting them and Toyota can’t get us a 2nd one.

    Update: I did receive notice on the App dated 8/31. Called dealer and they were completely prepared. Key ordered and will receive next Thursday when I bring the Tundra in for the alignment issues.

    What is sad is the disinformation and flat garbage put out by Toyota on this entire situation. As indicated by the FOB notice used by the Toyota App, they could have applied this as well with keeping us informed.

    Quick update - I was in the area today, so I stopped in to make sure everything was on track and surprise, the fob is already here. Truck is getting programmed as I type...

    For those in the Clermont, FL area, apparently Victor is the go to guy (knows the process) at Toyota of Clermont...
