There's a guy at work that has made his way into a high paying, high authority position.
Before he made it there, he spent a lot of time bullshitting people and bullshitting his way up the ladder. One of his now famous tricks is telling people that his orders/directives are coming from far above him when he's asking for something.
None of it was real, it was just a way to get people to do what he wanted, and/or keep them in line.
Church leaders have done the same for millenia. They use the wrath of whatever god they preach to keep you in line and squeeze money out of you. Parents use Santa to extort good behavior and curb bad behavior. It's all the same psychology. But modern governments don't really need fictional characters in the sky to extort good behavior or curb bad behavior (although they will use that tactic on occasion and scare everyone with something that's not real or false). People are so enveloped in their consumer goods and their online existence that the threat of any group rising up and throwing anyone out of power is non existent. People are docile, doped up and in a trance from their cellphone. Now we just have to keep them from walking or driving into each other. And if they misbehave, we just find them on a camera or their tracking device, pick them up, put them in a jail cell and take all their shit.
Now we have cameras and drones and militarized police to keep everyone in line. Now their money is digital and we can simply take it from them when they're bad.
I do believe that the general ideology and principals of some religions are good guidelines for behavior in a civilized society. But we no longer need the church to enforce it. We don't need to scare people into behaving with the idea of a supernatural force that follows them around and sees everything they do, so they'll behave. Church leaders don't need to use that tactic of, "he can see you at all times,...he can even read your mind, so you better behave, even when you're out there and I cant see you......oh, and I have a direct line to upper management and get my orders right from the top, so you better listen to me, pay me and follow the rules. You don't want to burn for eternity, do you?"
No, we can actually follow you around and see everything you do now. No need to scare people with a mythical, all knowing, all powerful being that's "somewhere" up there.
Government has taken the place of the church and they have better toys for keeping people in line than scary stories.
Point is, keeping people in line and keeping their money streaming in is all it's ever been about. That's the game. The way to do it has just evolved and will keep evolving.
And BTW,....all the monster stories are the same psychology too. To scare little kids from wandering off into the woods. The scary thing will get you. They never existed, they don't exist now and no one has ever actually seen one. Even the ones who think they've actually seen something.
Look into psychology and how the human brain functions. It's actually a lot more interesting than making things up to be interested in.

Sasquatch, ghosts, aliens, religion...I don't know...haven't seen them. My brain tells me probably on all fronts. Too many photos, and I think man has a huge ego to think they don't..."if WE haven't proven it, yet, they can't be real". Aliens, someone already said it...the odds of one planet in all existence having intelligent life, and we're it...nope. The Bible, agreed, written by man. I don't think it's literal, but it does have things good to follow. Don't think man is inherently evil, that we all need rules of some form or another, but probably a BIG help. A Bible on driving would be good. Not as big a fan of Old Testament...my understanding is God tormented Job, one of His most loyal followers, on a bet with Satan...that's not cool. As far as God, same thing on odds...if you think it's all chemistry and biology with no help, how many times would you have to roll how many dice, with how many sides, for conditions to be right for plants, animals, etc. to develop?

There are actual numbers. They're just so big that most people can't fathom, so they invoke the supernatural.
I'm not one of those smart people. I stay in my lane. But I trust that they have their best people working on the answers.
That's why I like the show "how the universe works". They found really smart people that have a pretty good grasp on how things work and really big numbers,....that are also able to be animated and break concepts down into digestible info for the layman.
Not all super smart people have that ability.
It's a great show.

The concept of Divine creation requires faith. Just as the belief that somehow someway infinite possibilities of math and random chance an explosion created water and then another random chance just happened to spark life, and then that life just happened to morph from a single cell to human life. The mathematical probability of all of that lining up is so exponential, id call that faith

That's quite an interesting conjecture, but, with no science and no religion, there is no road, and no guardrails...it'd all go off the cliff...my opinion, anyway.
