I’ve been doing a lot of googling and forum browsing, but I’m still gonna be annoying and start my own “help me choose a cover” thread.

Just bought a 21 Pro Crewmax and since I already have a shell on my Tacoma and this bed length is not comfortably sleepable, I’m going the tonneau route. I want a rugged cover that has excellent water protection and can either be easily removed when I need to do truck shit or made to be completely out of the way. Cost is not really a concern to meet my demands.

I really like the Diamondback cover line as they seem to seal well and are super rugged and bombproof, but none of there options really allow easy removal or an open state for full bed use. Maybe I’m missing something and they are easier to remove than I’ve read. I also see a lot of praise for the Lomax brand and the stance folds completely out of the way, but not sure how rugged and water sealed they are.

Before I had a shell on my Tacoma 6ft bed, I had an undercover classic. It was super tough, sealed from water, and was easy to remove but it ripped off my bed driving down the highway in heavy winds because the latches failed for the 5th time. They offered me a dead cheap replacement, but I lost trust in their product. That thing could have killed someone they way it came off.

I also don’t want something overly complicated with drain hoses and brackets that relocate the utility rails.

Taking cost out of the equation, what do you guys think?

Yes, but a third of the bed is covered when it’s folded to its most open position. If it’s simple to fully remove and pop back on, then maybe it’s the one. I would even go for the SE or HD if I thought I could remove and reinstall the center section without going through alignment.

You could as long as you mark where the center section sits, use a silver Sharpie on the inside plastic bed rail caps.

Thanks @Jim LE 1301 I placed an order for a Diamondback cover today to take advantage of the Labor Day freebies. I'm sure it will be a great add to my truck.
