No need for the timing chain at 100k. Only the 4.6 liter has a timing belt that needs to be changed. The 5.7 with a chain should never need to be changed unless there is an issue. Hopefully you get to see and it's in decent shape!

Searched FB, CL, and autotrader for several weeks. Contacted 3 or 4 sellers that had already sold theirs. Maybe another 3 or 4 who wouldn't respond to my questions. Found this on CL on Sun and drove 7 hrs over the last 2 days to grab it. I measured the bed and found, in the same city, a contractor camper shell so I added it on the drive back. Pretty pleased. 95% of what I wanted. Just have to work on the 26 gallon tank and figure out what direction I am going there to upgrade.

This would be killer if you can stomach the price.

Small correction: The 4.7L has a timing belt that needs to be changed every 100k. The 4.6L and 5.7L have a timing chain that does not need to be serviced.

And I would love to take a regular cab long bed and build a flatbed for it with my kids. They would totally dig it. I keep looking and looking; I found one that is totally clapped out from being stolen, then partially lit on fire. Price is... mehhh.. but I don't see a lot of them around. A few nice ones in town that I've given the nod to as the pull up next to me at the light. Chatted up one guy at the gas station and he said he will never ever ever sell his.

30k for the single owner 2018 truck with 4x4 and line-x, bench seat, 26 gallon tank, and only 65k miles. All dealership maintenance including recent tranny, transfer case, and diff drain and fill. I was close several times to spending 15k on trucks from used car dealers but discovered they all had problems at nearly 160k to 300k miles (contractors only trade-in LBs when they have issues they can't resolve IMO).

1k for the cap which included a bed slide (going to sell that I think). No toolboxes so I need to figure out how to segregate bed to keep tools from sliding around yet leave room for 4x8 drywall, plywood sheets, etc. May have to brush up on my sheet metal skills since I need to keep weight low for towing...

Autotrader is 95% used car dealers. FB finds are snatched up quickly. CL seemed to be the best for me particularly since I could search 500 or more miles away.

Good catch. I used to have a 2001 with the 4.7, but never had a 4.6 to worry about lol.

My CL searches show non tundra vehicles even tho I specify in it the filters…& I didn’t see a filter for LB. Any tips for CL searches? I’m bout to give up on the LB unicorn search soon!! Ugh

I just searched in car and truck for "tundra 8' bed" and then made sure to change the miles from location filter to "500" and sometimes I even changed the zip code based on where I was looking to get a truck. Did the same by changing zip codes in Facebook. FB is irritating as most sellers think they have a long 8' bed even though they don't...

I wouldn't give up. This Tundra is replacing my 2001 F-350 8' bed and my 2006 Tundra DC so I desperately need the long bed for tools, for lumber, etc. It is so nice to have a full bed again, and one that shouldn't break down at random times.

This is a perfect truck for me…but it’s a 12 hr drive…& guy said it still has a loan in it…said loan is $27500….& hrs asking $25000….so rest of loan is on him. Not sure how the sale would work if title is in name of his bank….my bank probably ain’t guna be keen with that. But it is the exact set up I been looking for. Ugh

I don't care for the rims (weird guy that likes steelies) but I would have jumped on this one for the bigger 38 gallon tank. If you are driving 12hr south then I would consider the drive/gas as the premium to get a rust-free southern truck. I found several LBs up North but cried everytime I saw the undercarriage. I already swapped my Timbrens from my 06 to my new 18 and it took 15 minutes flat and most of that time was shifting the cardboard around on the concrete driveway due to the lack of rust.

No clue on the bank part... Does he have $2500 cash to eat the difference?

Yepper….would be stoked bout the rust free southern truck!! Not sure if he has the $2500 cash to pay his bank off. Guna so him to call me. I can’t believe it’s got everything I want and price is in my wheelhouse!! Wish it were closer!! Lol

Make sure you make that transaction at his bank/credit union so he can satisfy that lien before you take off. Made the mistake of buying a jet ski with a lien and just did the personal title transfer. Luckily the guy was honest and went to the bank himself to pay off the loan, but I have heard of the sellers turning around and blowing the cash on something else instead of paying the loan off and now you're left a lien they can't pay off.

Sometimes I hate people on the inside when I say "congratulations!" on the outside. Sometimes I also say the quiet part out loud....
