Good morning fine (and questionable) people!

Our '23 Pro was having the weirdest issue. The VSC and a host of other lights would flash every time we slowed to a stop. Pretty consistently. The dealership was good on it, called in the toyota special tech peeps, and the determination is......a whole new differential! Sounds like about a $4500 job, just in case you ever need to do it out of warranty.

Here's a quick clip and pic, in case it helps anyone.

Damn... so what you're saying is if I pay to upgrade, I should probably invest in a 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty extension?? or does that even exist anymore?

    Edit: spelling on pay.

any shudder or other weird transmission issues?
@blackdemon_tt new truck comes with a 100k mile transmission warranty and basic 3/year 36,000 mile warranty unless you purchase the extra warranty.

yeah, I meant the extra warranty, seems like issues would appear well beyond the 3year 36k mileage.. I remember the powertrain was only to 60k back then.

It’s still the same. You have to buy an extended for coverage over 60k miles.

that's what I initially said... I think I misspelled pay with play... I'll fix it though, but I recall various people have so many issues with the initial 2nd gen roll out, don't think it was this extensive... I had various issues with the driveline and transmission leaking, nothing a replacement on their dime couldn't fix.

I probably should have quoted @troutback since he was the one that stated the truck comes with a 100k mile warranty.

Call me old school, but I don’t see how a mechanical differential would cause things to flash on the screen - seems electrical to me. :notsure:

So they tried a few different sensors before going this route. I should say that we havent experienced ANY drivability issues. If you never looked down, you wouldn't notice a thing. So I think it's some connection somewhere as well.

Once the part is in, should be a 2 day turnaround at the most.

Keep us posted on wether or not the new differential corrects the issue. Will be interesting to see how it goes.

I had this exact issue in my 22 Limited OR. VSC and other lights would flash intermittently when stopped, rolling to a stop or starting from a stop. Never happened over 15MPH or so. When dealer looked at they could not find the issue. They spoke with Toyota tech support and were told to unplug a harness from the diff. If the problem went away then the diff needs to be replaced. It was replaced over 5K miles ago and never had the issue since.

Welp, they opened up the new diff and, thankfully they inspected it, it was damaged. Hopefully fixed now Friday. I'll report back, obviously, when I can drive it.

Got the truck back. Drives great (just like prior) and no lights on.

So, I guess if you have this issue, the fix is a brand new diff.
