Anyone ever seen something along these lines for a first gen tundra?

I've seen them a lot on Land Cruisers...might have to do some "refabbing" to make it work?

Wanting to add some body protection to my rig...

Definitely Aussie made and not because of the license plate. The Aussies are pretty nifty about protection. The outback can be your worst nightmare. You might want to contact ARB. Otherwise you are most likely talking fabrication shop.

Certainly a good place to start. Just noticed that there is an ARB sticker to the left of the plate on the bumper in the pic. Hard to make out, but definitely ARB sticker.

It'll be a ways down the line yet. Just putting my wish list together. Transmission/steering skid plate is first on my list. The amount of unprotected oil lines under there is terrifying.

I have a similar list. heh heh. Sometimes I see something on my wish list on Craig's and will get a screaming deal and get to check off another wish.

Yep that is definitely an ARB bumper. All their bumpers have a distinguishable look. The sticker gives it away as matluth pointed out.

Your right. The bull bar looking thingy on top the bumper seems out of place. Black and chrome? wow. ARB bumpers for the most part are great looking bumpers, except this one.

Arb was high when they made 1st gen bumpers. Lost a sale to me because of it. Very disappointed in arb over there design of it.

Should be able to order without chrome finish you would think.
Wonder if ARB will do any custom work?[/QUOTE]

None its made in aussie . All done on computer welding and cutting. If you want custom work it will have to be fab here in usa.

Have one of these on the truck I recently bought.
Not to fond of it but couldn't find used assembly to replace it.
Thought about posting in local CL to see if any interest.

So that chrome bar is removable? You could re-finish it. Maybe re-finish before posting. Might help when selling it.

    Looks like it is.
Thought about removing it. Looked at replacing with different maker or buying cheap tundra and selling parting the rest. Not to many available.

The ARB bumper itself is pretty decent looking. Definitely one of the better bumpers out there.

    Agreed
The thing that bothers me is how much it hangs out.
Looked photos of the Relentless bumper and liking it.

The Relentless is very nice and appears to be tank proof. A lot of aftermarket bumpers have extra to extreme overhang. Allows to fit larger winches and probably for looks/strength too.

That's what I figured the reason for overhang. It has a 12.5k winch in it. Just having to get use to it. Previous Tacoma was stock and a prerunner.

This is just new to me. Never really had a use for a winch or see a need for one now. But changing mind set to better to have it and not need it than need and not have it.

I've had winches in the past. 2 Warn electrics and first winch was a massive PTO Koenig I had on a CJ-5. Back in the day, most transfer cases had PTO (power take off) capability like a tractor from the factory. The best way to go IMO. I'm going to get a smaller rated winch to pull small logs too heavy to lift. Will just use a winch cradle attached to rear hitch to pull logs up to my trailer. There are some reasonably priced winches up to 12K out there that are good enough for the occasional user. You don't need to spend $1K or $1.5K for a high end winch unless you plan on using it for recovery or other heavy uses. $400 to $600 will get you a decent winch nowadays. Getting back to bumpers/protection, a fab shop could certainly tack on whatever you want to the bumper. Only $$$$.

Has anyone here bought and installed the Relentless bumper? This thread is the first I have heard of them.

ARB used to offer the bumper without that bar too, looked much better without it I think.

Talked to Relentless this morning. A buddy and I both have 2001's. They said that if we ordered the same bumper at the same time, they would give us a 10% discount on a package deal, and would ship them together, saving even more on shipping. BTW, I am in Tucson, AZ
