I'm gonna try watch it through my front camera of my phone. The camera should be able to adjust the brightness/exposure level automatically and I won't be looking at it directly. It's worth a shot.

Edit: nevermind, it will damage the sensor. Oh well.

Is it supposed to be pitch black like it is night time? Never experienced a total eclipse.

Only if you're in the path of totality.

Edit: "The first thing you want to do is make sure you’re in the right place. Across 12 states from Oregon to South Carolina, a 70-mile-wide strip called the path of totality will experience a total solar eclipse on Monday Aug. 21, with the moon almost fully blocking the sun."

You'll still be able to experience the solar eclipse. Just not total. I'm in north Florida and it's supposed to be 90% covered.

It's too bad nobody has made this into a holiday. As it covers the sun, we all drink to it as fast as we can before it passes while shooting of fireworks.

We're only getting 71% coverage here. We'll see a 'crescent sun'... better than nothing I suppose. That is if the marine layer burns off in time to view it.

Can we have members post photos of how dark it is outside during the eclipse at your locations?
