The guy at Morimoto said the tabs breaking were on the first one’s made that had a problem. He said it’s not a problem anymore. I hope he is right.

Is this still an issue on the newer production runs?

I don’t know about the tabs breaking but as stated they are made differently. Mine lined up good. I did put a washer between the light and bed and bolt on the lower right light.

I probably should've described better what I meant. I'm talking about the imperfection, or a "crack", on the tailgate edge of the lens, in the middle of the light.

    Stupid question.

Should I pull the trigger on those? It would go on a Lunar Rock TRD Pro.
I am 50/50. :annoyed: I am also debating between clear vs red lens.

I bought mine on Black Friday weekend and got 20% off. See if some members have the red.

Don't know if anyone else experienced this but it appears that Morimoto includes the 4 replacement torx screws and the little tap screws for the resistors now. Had to replace my tail lights again and these came with a warning to use their replacement screws to avoid any possible damage to the tail lights.

Yes I also received new torx screws and was told not to over tighten them. Did you also notice that the placement of the resistor is on the top of the taillight.

I did not. That is news to me. Honestly not surprised at all of the modifications they are doing to the tail lights. Seems like par for the course (minus the broken damage the tail lights are getting) as it was the same deal going on with the head lights when I replaced my gen 1s. A lot of minor changes were found there too.

Edit: Here's hoping this version will get across the finish line.

Let’s hope they have it right now as I really like the tail lights.

Agreed! I've gone through 3 iterations of aftermarket tail lights, including these Morimotos, and I've liked these the best based on the features and style.

My replacements have held up well thus far over the past month or so. True test on the "new" design will be some higher speed off-roading use.

HR is running 15% off until 9/10/23.

My biggest concern is that we are on version 57 of those tail lights, and at this pace, I'm wondering if there is going to be another update in 6 months that will make the tail light even better. :notsure: I would hate to miss out on the latest and greatest version. ;) ...and it's not like you trade in your old lights and upgrade to the latest version. I know... I got issues.

So far so good. I'll probably replace the 3rd break light now...

    Shout-out of appreciation to @memario1214

Last year I purchased the smoked Morimoto tails during the Hotshot Off-road Black Friday sale, absolutely killer deal btw.

On Sunday I'd discovered that my driver side tail was loose towards the top, tightened it down but it wouldn't get any more secure. Pulled the light to discover that the tab that accepts that torx bolt there had snapped.

Fortunately @memario1214 has made the warranty and replacement process painless and smooth.

In addition, unrelated to Hotshot Off-road but back in May I had one of the LEDs in my driver side morimoto headlight go out. The enclosed and sealed housing means you can't just replace the LED but Morimoto accepted the warranty claim painlessly and sent a replacement quickly.

So, good experience with my Morimoto products so far, both in terms of performance and customer support through them and by extension Hotshot Off-road

Anyone know if they have these for the Tundra? I looked and didn't see an option. Looks like the big differences are: no color DRL option, more of an anthracite/dk gray interior color, no sequential turn signals, and they re-use the turn signal bulb from OEM housings.

Negative. There is no XB Hybrid nor GTR Carbide series option for the Tundras. The closest thing to that would be AREX or Form offerings.
