Recall on fuel tube

Wondering what’s the location of the recalled fuel tube? I’m guess ing they mean fill tube. Anyone with insight or pics would be helpful. Thinking of “temp” fixing the recall since I kind of want to drive my truck before october

 

Hi Matt ! My understanding is that the fuel line will rub against another part or the truck piece and the hose needs to be replaced and or rerouted. They say it can cause a leak and a hazardous situation on the 3rd gen tundra and Toyota will probably have a service bulletin on the recall in October.

 

I called the dealer near my place and they knew of it and had no fix at time. Didn’t tell me to park the truck or anything. I have a platinum 2wd crewcab short box with 32k on it. Haul over 1k everyday. No problems so far. FYI

There’s absolutely no reason you can’t drive your truck until October.

 

I showed a pic of Toyota's fix for this problem on the thread I linked to above. My June 2023 build has no recall notice for this problem. Their fix is a simple protective sleeve on one of the lines. Unfortunately, I don't see any way to add this sleeve without dropping the fuel tank, which is probably why Toyota is dragging their feet on this. It's going to be a very labor intensive chore for such a stupid simple fix.

Hmm what about a piece of self adhesive pipe insulation around the brake line?

 

I did start to look through the post but got fed up with all the gen talk to I simply asked what I wanted to know

 

Thanks for the picture. I think they could easily put a longitudinal slit in the protective sleeve to be able to wrap it around the hose then use tape to keep slit from opening up again or moving along the hose.

My Tundra is a late June 2023 build but I haven't checked yet if the protective sleeve is there or not.
