Call Toyota again today. Completely reversed what they told me 1st week of Aug . My 23 is an Oct build with me taking delivery in Nov 22. Now not acknowledging any delivery date of 2nd FOB.

they are probably using tax rules, as long as the letter is stamped by aug-31st its considered in august. just like how they are suppose to send out w2/w4 (or whatever it is) by end of january.

Just bought my first Tundra yesterday. One key "due to chip shortage" and was told that I'd get a letter from Toyota when the 2nd fob was ready. Then, I was told, I'd need to go to the closest Toyota dealer and have them program it, which "should take about an hour." Of course, I was told this after I'd already committed to the truck (not that it would have been a deal breaker).

Don't believe anything a dealer tells you. Do your own research. My dealer told me I'll have my second key fob in a month. It's been 3 months now and my research shows I'm suppose to get mine mid next year. By the way, my dealer said nothing about not getting my second key fob until all paperwork was signed and they handed me one key fob. I absolutely hate dealerships all the way from sales to service. I hope the rumor is true that Toyota is going to start selling cars directly to buyers, bypassing dealers.

23’ 1794 purchased on May 15 …. Still waiting on mine too! So much for that 90 day rule!

Called the dealer yesterday about it actually and they stated they would mail me out one …. But I still have to take it in and have it programmed. Guess I will hold my breath!

That was Becky. She just started and knows very little about parts being delayed by the manufacturer. We'll let you know when Toyota releases them.
I got my truck almost 6 months ago and havent heard a thing. (forum member was my salesman)

This is what I got from Toyota yesterday.

Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc and choosing Toyota for your driving needs.

Congratulations on the purchase of your new 2023 Toyota Tundra!

We genuinely apologize for any continued delay due to the global semiconductor’s shortage. Manufacturers are facing a shortage of microchips for our Smart Key entry systems. Toyota will be delivering vehicles that were manufactured within a certain date range to dealers and customers with only one Smart Key. Toyota will contact owners by first class mail advising when to return to the dealer to receive your second key at no charge. Timing of this notification is expected sometime in the late Fall of this year, but is subject to change based on semiconductor availability. We apologize again, and continue to request for your patience.

So it's looking like a full year for me in my case to get my 2nd fob.

I called. Explained I needed one sooner. Was transferred. They said go get one from dealership. I paid for it. Then submitted to Toyota for reimbursement.
    Worked for me.

Everybody needs to start doing that - force their hand on the issue.

While it doesn’t affect me, these BS excuses for everything have gone on far too long.

Took delivery April 22nd on my 23 tundra. Salesman said I would have it in a month. That's the last that I've heard from him.

As stated before, if everyone on here would reach out to Toyota brand engagement and express the frustration of not receiving your fobs maybe we could make some lead way.

Your texts are just blowing in the wind, complaining on this forum. Let’s actually do something instead of just pussyfooting on this thread….

I bought in January '23 and still have no 2nd fob. I called the dealership a week or so ago and all she could tell me was that my VIN hadn't been cleared yet for 2nd fob shipment. Lame.

According to the doc that circulated on this forum, the Japanese buyers before are to get the fobs first, then North America. I wonder if those people who were supposed to get it first have gotten anything yet.

Did anyone save a copy of that doc? I remember it but not the details - only that I'm in the wave to get it by August '23. Would be a good post (or PM) if someone did save it off. Have to believe that happened. I'm surprised I didn't. Purchased end of Nov, 2022

Got my 2023 truck in Feb’23…nothing on my 2nd key fob at all. Even inquired when I went in for my first service. Dealership has no clue, or if they do they aren’t sharing.

Not good news. Just completed call with the Brand Engagement Center. The 2nd Key Fob issue is pushed back approximately one Quarter.
For me, this means no 2nd Key Fob by end of August based on Toyota Document dated 4/21. Now pushed to Q4.

Darn Shame-continues to tarnish Toyota's reputation.

Old Proverb originating from Imperial China. Death by a Thousand Cuts (psychology), the way a major negative change which happens slowly in many unnoticed increments is not perceived as objectionable.

Will have to think long and hard if I purchase another Toyota.

Off Topic but again aligned with issues with TRD Pro 3rd Gen Tundra; Now have an appointment through Customer relations with servicing dealer on the TRD Pro Alignment issues. Have had the Tundra aligned twice now to Specs. Front tires substantially cupped on outside edges at 8800 Miles. Front and back now in same condition as they rotated when last aligned.
Most likely won't make it through the winter and meet minimum tread requirements when new registration/safety inspection due

Edited: Have appointment Thursday Morning 7AM with Dealer. Going to push for new tires under warranty. Fortunately have measurements from caliper showing excessive wear. Prior to the 23 TRD Pro, had a 22 Limited OR with 20 inch wheels. When traded for the 23 Pro-had just over 8000 miles and the 20 inch tires had even wear without alignment issues. For sure points to something wrong with TRD Pro package and Front end alignment specs......................:(

I am taking my new Pro with less than 700 miles to an alignment shop that is not going to follow the bad specs from Toyota. I can see the wear starting already on the outside this early on which is nuts. Too much toe and positive camber and Toyota keeps pumping them off the line with no working fix.

So, I guess I can stop running out to my mailbox every day in eager anticipation of my supposed August fob letter. ;-). Road trip soon... I'll need to guard my single fob and hang onto it like grim death.

Eventually Toyota is going to want you to pay for connected services. I call BS to that.
If I lose my one key, I cant even unlock the doors with the app if a subscription to connected services isnt active?

@Tom976 I've thought about that too. We should get an extension on connected services at the very least for this. I got my 23' Tundra in December 2022, and I'm still waiting on my 2nd key.
    Pretty frustrating at this point.

I can confirm I've seen a bunch of people coming through to get their second keys. Most of them have been relatively on schedule according to that document.

Well, since I got my truck two months later in mid-January and was also expecting an August 2nd fob, you just destroyed my hopes. ;-). Actually, not, since Toyota promises are where hopes go to die.

I have the message, too, on my December build. Maybe this is the "letter" we were supposed to get in August... or in addition to the letter. Too late for my road trip but I'll get this done when we get back.
