I'm around 60k on my '17 too.
Hope you guys had a blast! What was the favorite spot on the trip?

 

Good for the most part. I had an issue w/a shift solenoid start up a few months back; had it replaced; all was good for a few weeks; then started throwing codes intermittently... My mechanic has been good about trying to work through the problem, and it looks like we may need to replace some pins in the wiring harness to resolve, but trying to verify if it's ECM to exterior trans connector or pins inside the trans where the shift solenoid and such are wired in at.

It's basically just my dog transport rig nowadays, which ends up giving it most of the wear and tear between that and my '21...

Other than that, it's been really good to me... water pump way back in Vegas at about 100k; starter at about 220k, AC compressor at 240k, and the alternator went out at about 260k, so I really can't complain. Unfortunately, a few of those are a bitch to access, so I had to have someone else do them, but all in all

Well that’s really hard to say lol. All I’ve seen and drove thru was so nice! Love driving south on the 5 in Cali by the ocean. Those red mountains and dirt in Arizona and Nevada just amazing!
This is my first time in these states.
I’ve always been amazed by the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon as long as I remember So that’s what we did today. Loved it!

 

Thought I could get to sleep. Nope. Going to be a long night…

Yeah, but I bet a busy night makes for a faster shift. I always prefer a bit of chaos to keep things lively.

 

Was just looking at Hipcamps over in your neck of the woods. Trying to find something that lets us use the trailer one more time this year. After Labor Day weekend we are booked until mid November.

Fun story (but a little dark also)... I actually got to repel down the face of the Hoover Dam a few times about 18 years ago

So, the 'Dam' falls under Federal jurisdiction (Dept Of Interior / Bureau of Reclamation)... Apparently, the Reclamation guys convinced their bosses that they needed a repel program to deal w/jumpers and some of the issues associated w/the aftermath of those incidents.

Bodies were generally recovered at the bottom by taking the elevators down to the base, but what's very hard to see is the rebar sticking out of the dam all along the face of it, so clothing and 'such' would get hung up or torn on the way down leaving a bit of a mess. After the program was created a few of their guys were able to repel down and remove any remnants of the incident allowing the foot traffic along the top of the dam to be re-instated much quicker.

for a story that's a bit on the dark side, but kinda interesting nonetheless to some...

 

I wish. The last hour has been 4 hours long. The 6 prior to the chaos were only about 2 hours long. They effed stuff up bad. This isn't a little chaos. It's a lot.

Well, this is weird... It just started to rain and we've had a few cracks of thunder

 

I haven't seen it since 2019, but back then all the boat ramps and such on the boulder city side were dried up... The new interchanges and such through that area hopefully made the travels through there much smoother. It used to get kinked up at the dam in the summer, but w/the new bypasses and all traffic should have been much better. They were just finishing that up as we were leaving...

 

It's kinda crazy how nasty the water is right there at the base of those towers.... visibility in the water there is only a few feet.

Yeah, the top of the white is where the water level was probably 23-25 years ago...

 

Nasty job picking up the parts. How often did people try to fly off the dam?
