Hi. Just bought a 2011 Tundra DC SR5 5.7 2WD with 167,000 miles, and have a question for the group.

This truck does not have the multi-function display, just the basic dash gauges and the clock that displays mileage info above the center speaker. According to the manual, the operation of the automatic door locks can be changed so that they lock as soon as you put it into gear, rather than waiting until the truck reaches a certain speed, and also disable the automatic unlock when you put it into park. The problem is that according the manual, I can only do this if I have the multi-function display. Otherwise, I need to "take it to my Toyota dealer".

I've found a PDF listing various customizable features, including the door locks. This document gives instructions for changing these features via Techstream or "Intelligent tester". Does anyone know what qualifies as an "Intelligent tester"? Would myCarly work? Or maybe TouchScan (with the Toyota enhanced add-in)? Or some other readily-available scanner or Windows software?

edit: just found this site that claims to have genuine Techstream software and USB OBD2 connector at a great price compared to what I had seen on one of the official Toyota sites. Anyone have any experience with this company? Is it really Techstream? Do they provide decent support?

    Thanks.

I got Techstream from Amazon and installed the software on an old Windows laptop. Worked great for changing settings like this and for programming new keys: https://amzn.to/3Eat3us

Thanks PhotoNerd. I had been looking at this page, where Toyota was selling TechStream Lite for over $1500. I see now that the bulk of the cost was for the 1 year subscription to TIS. I'll check out the Amazon option.

The Amazon link lists two options. It looks like the cable is the same, just the software version differs. There is either version 16.00.017 or 17.00.020, with the v17 option being $8 more.

Do you recall which version you purchased? Given that it's a 2011, I suspect pretty much any recent version should work fine. It's not like they've been adding new features to the modules in the truck.

Thanks for the offer baraynavab. Not close to Atlanta, but I'll be getting one of those Amazon cables shortly.

Don't buyTechstream. Search for the link and you should be able to download Techstream image which should allow you to run it with the cable.

BTW post which cable you got with pic and link so we can all benefit from the cable you get. There are several cables that can be used with Techstream. Some more expensive than others.

OOh and good luck buddy. ;)

The Amazon links are pretty much just selling the cable. There will be a link to download the hacked software, which works without a paid subscription. I think I have version 12 so 16 should be fine. It's really primitive and basic software.
