"reputable auto body shop" is a bit of an oxymoron. I don't have a recommendation, I'm sorry to say, but I couldn't resist the opportunity to say "oxymoron"...

check on Euro Pros on Route 124 in Gaithersburg. They did excellent work on my Volvo, and at the time most of the cars at the shop were Porsches, which may say something about their work and reputations. My experience was a long time ago, but it's worth looking into.

Oddly enough, you won't find Maryland in the correct regional forum

Lol! Wouldn't be the first or last time. These particular ones also don't seem to have a grasp on capitalization.... or where "puerto" Rico and the Virgina Islands are located.

I dunno what world everyone else lives in, but anything on or near the the eastern seaboard and above of North Carolina is the "northeast USA" to me. Can't speak to the islands, that's just crazytalk.

In the world where states south of the Mason-Dixon line are southern states.

North east starts at the mason dixon line. Unfortunately Maryland does “align” with the north east because of a few counties and Baltimore.

@Shifty your post is political commentary. Most of my folks were Pennsylvania Mennonites at the time, so not really on one side or the other. The Mason Dixon is the line. With respect to geography and climate, Maryland is closely tied with most of Virginia, half of North Carolina, Tennessee and on west a ways.

History certainly does matter, as does the reason for it. Maryland is, and was, heavily agrarian, linking it with other states. It's a very interesting history, should you be interested. The USDA map seems to vary source to source. Some show zone 7 encompassing most of NC and very little of PA, similar to the ASHRAE climate zone map. Summers here always felt a lot like summers at my great aunt and uncle's in Statesville, NC.

Hopefully we've kept Jason's thread at the top long enough.

When I lived in NY (born and raised), it was most definitely the North East in my mind...in both geography and climate. Culturally, not so much however, I always regarded the North East to begin at Connecticut.

When I moved to the New Jersey Shore, it was like another planet. I regarded it as the Mid-Atlantic. The climate was similar to NY, although spring came a week or two earlier, and fall lasted a week or two longer.

Now I live in Maryland in the Chesapeake Bay area. Spring starts ~ 3 weeks earlier, and Fall lasts ~ 3 weeks longer. There is no part of Maryland that I would ever consider to be in the North East. Culturally it's the South (everybody's so goddam nice!), regardless of the Mason Dixon line or Maryland's so called neutrality during the Civil War (in fact, there are some counties in MD where I think they are still fighting the civil war). Most of my family is now in coastal South Carolina, and the climate is very similar (except for the occasional foot of snow we sometimes get in the bay area). Other parts of Maryland border on Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and are more like those areas than not in every regard. Maryland is a strange place indeed. The snow belt (and thus the rust belt) seems to follow I95 almost exactly, with major snow accumulations to the west of I95, and not so much to the east. When snow is predicted, snow plows loaded with salt stand idling on the major roads just in case it might snows. And the supermarkets are stripped bare at the mere suggestion of weather! (The same thing happens in DC and NOVA when they predict rain! When it actually rains, traffic is often backed up for hours).

The point of this diatribe is only that I too would never have thought to look for the Maryland 1st Gen group under the North East header.
