Tundra, couldn't tell ya much. New gen Navigator/Expedition I could tell you down to the exact part numbers the difference in the 2wd vs 4wd. I'm sure that'll never be a useful skill in my life unless @txagg has any wild plans for his wife's car.

    Speaking of insane car prices....

Or should I get Ironman a little brother?

I dropped the price on the cars and one of the SHO gurus who lives just past Tulsa (2 miles from where we go to the lake) hit me up and said he'd buy em, he just doesn't know when. I want something fun to drive and decently fast. I was thinking c5 vette(pop up headlights are cool), but insurance would suck. Cheap Hondas from the 90s don't exist, and get real expensive real fast. Another 10-19 SHO, nope. Those cars shit and dont come in stick. Fast, but shit. No BMWs. I'm not THAT big of a douche. Infiniti g35/37s sound weird and are driven by retards mostly. Miatas are for hairdressers. Oh, and I set a $15k price limit. Plenty of WRXs out there for that.

WRX is the poor man's race car, and for insurance it gets classed as a compact. I miss my 2017 pretty regular, but the bike is helping with that. You're enough of a mechanic you can definitely get an older one and keep it going for a fun car.

Honestly, any of the MKIV VWs from the same year range as the 1GT are a blast in manual format, and I don't think it matters really if you go with the 4cyl turbo or the VR6, although my GTI VR6 manual was a goddamn riot. I think I gave away all of my VAG-COM cables, software key, and misc tools I had for them or I'd pass them along if you went that route.

There are some little quirks, plastics that crack here or there (knobs, etc) and rubber stuff that rots (vacuum lines), but if you do a once-over on everything to refresh, parts are plentiful, there's a crapload of aftermarket products, they can be really fun.

No more fwd. I do see some nice ones out there, and I liked the one @Darkness had. The r32 is stupid money still. The Honda I would want would be a crx, and only because I had a y49 in high school.

That's only fun offroad! I need something fun for the street that's halfway dependable. But he does need more parts...

Honestly Miata’s are pretty fun. I had a couple and they’re the most fun I’ve had without breaking the speed limit all the time hahaha.

That being said get a C5, yea the insurance is a bit up there but it’s such a fun car. I love mine :bananadance:

I remember the 'Banshee' build Stacey David did on Gears to slap a V8 into one.

LS Miata gets my vote for a fun driver too. You could probably build one for 1/2 your proposed 15k budget. HP/weight ratio is an easy metric for fun-ness.

    Taylor-Ray-Miata-with-a-5.3-L-LSx-V8-01.jpg

Edit: shiiiit, for 14,500 I'll build it. Save that last $500 for bail money.

I've heard it's real cheap and relatively simple to swap a 5.0L into a Miata.
Talk about turning a modest Japanese roadster into an American ripper.

Reminds me of how Shelby shoehorned 6L+ Ford v8's into European roadster AC Cobra

I'm sure LS1tech's forum probably has a few different swap projects logged. Knowing the 1st gen ('89-'97) is classic and/or emissions exempt in most rational states at this point, I reckon this is probably a no-brainer. And I'd expect pretty decent support also.

The 4.8 LR4 would probably be a pretty easy swap.

EDIT: Actually, trying to shoehorn that bastard in with the trans attached would probably be a complete and total PITFA now I think about it. You may end up having to install from below using a lift, or yoink the front end of the car off.

Hey guys so I've been continuing to think about lifting my truck this winter. I'm trying to figure out which shock brand to go with. This is a daily driver and I'm wanting to lift like 2-3 inches front, about 1-2 rear. Very little towing. Not much true off roading, maybe just some ranch work. I really want to make sure the ride is still nice on road - that's the priority. My takeaway from reading different threads is that the eibachs are pretty soft - too soft for some. The 5100s are stiffer more like a traditional "truck" ride. The 6112/5160s are ??? not really sure. What have been y'all's experience with these brands in terms of ride quality? For what it's worth, I am willing to spend some money.

I'm gonna make a thread with all the lift/tire/wheel info when the time comes and I want to get the blessing from y'all, just trying get the gears turning in my head.

Cool car but I barely fit in it compared to the C5.
Now that would be a fun monster. If you want to get really crazy, add in a long travel kit from Paco Motorsports hahha

That’s interesting. A friend of mine who is 6’5” couldn’t fit his feet into the footwell of the C6-C7. He has a C8 now and loves all the leg room.
