I had to check the thread title. The crew definitely took this one over

 

Got everything installed and buttoned up but still having the hdmi issue - video will start and immediately pause. When I press play again it defaults back to the Home Screen.

I have tried to update the firmware - I set up wifi and am connected. But it said server error; connection failed when I try to update. Any idea why that is? I would do it with a thumb drive but there is apparently an update via OTA that isn’t available on the website.

 

What device is playing video?
Did you install the bypass?
How are you controlling stop start function?

I got it finally - have to turn “extra accessory control” button to on. Everything works now - big thanks to all for helping me troubleshoot. Glad this setup is over and never touching the damn thing again

Welp, after the software update there is no hdmi anymore - doing the same thing it did before and defaults to Home Screen.


After messing with it for a bit, you have to disconnect from Apple CarPlay to get the video to play…..works fine when not connected to Apple CarPlay. I guess there is a handshake issue with the two programs running simultaneously and likely has nothing to do with extra accessory control

 

Knobs rule, buttons drool.

Like @BiggHertz said, the instant volume change is a big deal to me. After a little while you know exactly how many degrees to rotate really quick to get the exact amount of increase or decrease you want.

And maybe I’m old, but I like the ability to instantly jamb the volume up to 9.5 instead of waiting for the button input to eventually ramp up when a Taylor Swift song comes on.

 

I’m a little bit late to the game here, I would think that 11 inch might be a little too big for me but I would like a 9 inch one, do you think I could still get one? Does anybody have any info as far as SKU numbers go where I can stop by with this information at a local Best Buy ?
