What I like about this post is that it shows how GD big the Tundra's cooling system is.

We were driving up to talkeetna, Alaska, from Anchorage and a dude broadsided a moose with an f150. The f150 looked like it hit a brick wall going 80mph. I mean, the entire front of that truck was demolished. Had we hit it with our little rental car I can’t imagine what would have happened to us.

Years ago, we came upon a fresh accident scene where a Chevy Sprint hit a moose at highway speed. Both occupants of the Sprint were fine, and the car had pretty minor front end damage, and a creased roof.

The moose, well, it had broken legs and was on it’s way to a freezer. The crease on the car's roof was from when it went under the moose’s belly.

Amazing repair. I used to say you can fix anything with a roll of duct tape. I stand corrected!

I have always used deer warning alarms and have had pretty good luck always put on everything i have they can be heard whistling and in cases where some were present they raised up as well as other wildlife can hear. most auto parts stores sell these in pairs.Low & high frequencies

I’ve heard mixed reviews, but seems like the idea is sound…sound. Whew that was a good one!

Great advice. From my own experience the bumper wrapped around and beat the hell out of my passenger door until I found a place to stop.

It’s amazingly solid. I’ve hit the highway and can’t tell it had an issue. Thankfully, with the zip ties I was able to rebuild all of the structure underneath and make it solid to then attach the outer caps to. But good advice I appreciate it.

Deer damage repaired. Since they were painting I had the mustache surround replaced with a paint matched version.

I hit probably on the order of 12-15 deer every year, sometimes 2-3 at a time. Going on 17 years of averaging this many deer strikes a year. Even turning the headlights off completely doesn’t seem to dissuade the stupid critters. They’re just not very bright.

    Nope.

Locomotives aren’t kind to things they hit. Thin sheet metal and plastic bumpers give, the 1/2” thick steel plate of a locomotive pilot doesn’t.

I hit an antelope once going 60 MPH and it pretty much just exploded, there was a moment where all the fur coming off looked like someone busted open a down pillow.

Deer are so stupid I hit them with giant orange painted locomotives that are incredibly loud. They’re freaking dumb.
