I have ac and it blows ice cold, new blower motor, my mechanic said the thermostat was good & heater coil was good. could the heater not working mean the fluids need to be flushed? cause thats where I was going next.

Flushing isn’t going to fix that. Does the truck come up to normal operating temp?

With engine hot, and engine running.

With heater OFF, the hose on the right of this circled box should be hot. Hose on left should be cool. Correct?

Turn heat ON full blast. Let it run for 30 secs. Both hoses should be hot. Correct? If not, that circled valve isn't opening, potentially because the control behind the dash isn't activating it.

It may simply be there's an air bubble stuck here and squeezing the hoses will help push it through.

There's one other place to look, but you need to check this first.

IIRC, there's a single cable going from the dash into the circled valve/box thing. Members here have found one of the controls in the dash has jumped or bound up, resulting in that cable no longer pulling the valve.

If you find the left side remains cold in all cases while heat is on, check in with us before you tear apart the dash. I can think of someone to tag for help.

If you find the left side does go hot, trace that hose to the firewall, where it goes into the heater core. Notice the other short hose left of it on the firewall, that runs back into the block? That's the return line from the heater core. Check to see if that's hot; if not, your heater core is clogged.

If all three hoses are hot, this is probably an issue with one specific flap/vent not opening in the ducts.

Interesting. I don't think the two hoses left of that box on the firewall should be hot-hot. I tested this with mine yesterday after a 10 mile drive, no heat on, and the heat in the hoses left of the box was residual - i.e. hoses on left were warm, but not hot. Hose to the right of that box was hot, same temp as the radiator hose pretty much. Cranked on the heater and within 30 seconds, all three hoses were similarly hot to each other.

If all three of your hoses are hot though, as I think you're saying (right?) then I'd start looking into the controls.

Start with reply #12 of this thread and walk through your controls: https://www.tundras.com/threads/no-a-c-or-heat.109191/#post-2817113

Since you have air flow (you do have air flowing, right?), I doubt this is your issue, but this is one person's problem: https://www.tundras.com/threads/cold-air-behind-glove-box-solved.123112/#post-3155626

Gonna need more info here. What kind of trash is in your cooling system? It's a closed system and should only have coolant in it. Has the truck been sitting up for long periods of time? Has the fluid ever been changed before?

truck was sitting for 2 years before I bought it. looks to me like they replaced the radiator but never had the coolant flushed.

Makes sense. Details like that will help with future issues should you need help or advice. Glad the flush worked and your heating again!

Can’t see how junk in the system caused a loss of heat with all the hoses hot. I bet there was air in the system. Who changes a radiator and doesn’t flush the coolant??!

Can you confirm they put the correct coolant in the truck, and not yellow/green or similar?

The 4.7L is supposed to get red coolant (some folks say "pink"). Buildup that causes clogs can come from using the wrong coolant - either due to precipitate from reactions with the metal in the block/heads/etc, or similar.

Could be. When I drained it it was red, but that doesn't mean shit with this truck. I may do a full flush in the fall.

I can't see the particulates on my phone screen. Maybe I could on a pewter.

Anyways, my trucks coolant system was 100% clogged on everything except the engine block. Even the oil cooler was plugged.

You've got this. You just gotta charge it like a bear on coke

A professional shop did that? :eek2:

Can you confirm how it was "flushed"? I'd be weary of the quality of the job given how it was drained.
