    Some of us are running this setup. I am putting mine in the center console. I will just swap out the cig adapter that’s in there . It will make swapping out accessories very easy.

    I personally despise these connectors. Harness bundle becomes un-managable with extra bulk, and reduced flexibility. just my 2 cents.

    I would bet anything you are a twist and solder guy. These connectors are so much better than a normal crimp connector. I only had to use three of them so they didn’t cause any issues at all.


    Soldering is IMO the best if you choose to wire the whole harness

    I'm an open barrel splice connector and heat shrink guy...way way more compact...

    Wire to wire connections with solder in any sort of dynamic movement environment...doesn't jive wit me.

    After reading both threads I am going to order the "Bundle" install kit listed with the ilx-511 on Crutchfield's site + XM module + Metra Axxess parking brake thingy + 6 channel RCAs and I think that should do it.

    I can't see myself ever needing a HDMI input, but since it's on the HU and I've got a ton of extra HDMI cables lying around, I plan on plugging one into the HU and just running it down to behind the panel you used. That pops off easy and I can add a socket without taking anything else apart if I need in the future.

    Chromecast, Raspberry Pi, RetroPi, all sorts of goodies to use the HDMI for! Trailer camera systems can output HDMI sometimes too. (This reminds me to check my own wireless system for it for my 6x12 because that would be pretty kickass, not needing a separate screen floating around.)

    Thank you for all you do.

    I don't suppose you have seen a fix for the Kenwood Maestro TPMS nightmare (reporting coming & going) I have replaced 2 RR2s, added & removed the resistor (after it worked for a year without it) I just got a new harness between the radio & Sequoia that does not have the resistor (as iDatalink says it should be in a '13 Limited with JBL & NAV)

    Currently it stopped working after I had to do a reset from a OBD2 code.

    grrrrr

    I just saw the poll, I have a DMX1057XR, RR2 & iDatalink TRN-HRR-TO1
