True story! I have come to realize that I simply can't process solids after about 3pm. I can drink all the calories and still lose weight, just not eat them. Aging is such a graceful process.

 

I thought I would be a swan, but I turned out to be more like a middle finger duck.

 

Our dog, Maverick has several names.
Maverick
Birdie, he's a bird dog (by breed)
Mavs
Sweet boy
He is 6 but lately, I've been calling him My Puppy.
He responds to all of them..

He's a rescue at 6 months.
We got him from a crackhead in the Walmart parking lot selling puppies.
We've never hit him, but he does kinda retract when you go to pet his head.
Odd because he loves to have his head scratched..

 

It honestly doesn't matter. I can have a single grilled chicken breast with clean sides, all well within proper portions, and I'll be up in weight. I've always laughed about being a farmer at heart (even on the weekends I tend to wake up before 0600), but at mid-40s and finally giving a damn, I'm starting to learn things the more I pay attention. I've never eaten bfast and always had small lunches, but lately I've flipped my intake and things are headed in the right direction. We've been making it a point to get healthier, and the above observations are on a 1500-2000 calorie intake, including beverages.

 

I was never a breakfast person. I would drink coffee all morning and never wanted food. Then I'd eat something in the late morning, early afternoon, then eat dinner and snack until I went to bed. Never gained a pound until I hit mid 40s and shot up 30 lbs in what seemed like over night.
Now I force myself to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner in small portions and I'm at a weight that makes sense for my frame. And I have to force the breakfast most days because I still don't really feel hungry when I first wake up, plus 40+ yrs of programming, but after a few bites, the system fires up and it's fine.
The thinking is, when you haven't eaten since lunch the day before and then skip breakfast, you're starving yourself. So, whenever you do eat, your body is going to try storing a lot of it because it now thinks it might be awhile before it sees food again.
This is why people who try starvation diets often actually end up gaining weight.
Its important to eat breakfast.

So you guys cannot do it? I wouldn't want to upset the dog again and think it's getting yet a new family so close to when you adopted her.
