Hello, I'm new to this forum. But it's been a long time coming. I've owned Toyotas most of my life. From a Celica in the 80s to the 2013 Tundra I presently own.
I'll get right to it. I'm attempting to pass California smog cert. The truck was purchased by me in Cali a few years ago in San Diego. I moved out of Cali for a few years. Now I'm back and must pass smog.
For thoughts of you who are aware of the new Permanent DTC pass requirement. If present,no pass. Today in the process of the smog cert, we found a PDTC saying that there is a transmission component failure.

Regarding this, I remember reading that a bad speed sensor could trigger such a code.. Any constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.
    Joshua

You'd have to tell us the DTC that's set to help.

It shouldn't impact smog, I've passed smog with 8 different pending DTC just 3 years ago more or less. It's only if it's a permanent DTC with a CEL that you won't pass smog. If you did a OBD2 diagnosis and got pending codes you should be good to go to pass smog.

Do a drain and fill of the transmission, add some Lucas anti slip for transmission and you should be good to go. I got a similar code 2 years ago and after I cleared it, hasn't come back since.

It is a permanent code.pdtc p0894 sorry for the confusion
In another thread I see that a member changed his transmission fluid. And that solved the slipping problem.
And, an up date: still have the pdtc code and yes Sir. It passed smog. Now I need to take care of the slipping issue.
    Thank you for the feedback.
I will be back with lots more question in the future.
