Several light coats is the trick. Let each coat dry for 30/45 minutes.

Yeah, definitely go lighter for the first couple. It will look shitty and you will think you need more. Don't! Slowly build it up and it will come together.

That's exactly what I did on two of them lol it kept getting worse as I was adding more and more. One of my wheels kinda turned out like that but I'm not worried cause eventually I will replace them

That sucks... thats what I did for my bumpers. It looked bad after 2 coats but after 4 it was even and looked good.

Mine was chrome. Just clean it real good (no need to scuff), in my post I do mention i hit it with bedliner to create a protective shell. Truck lives outdoors and has seen ice and negative temps as well as almost 4 months of 100 degree heat and direct sun. I don't even see a rock chip. If you have questions feel free to ask either here or on my build thread. It's not as impressive as Geno's and a lot may look like a knock off of what he did :anonymous:

Just read through your build it looks great! I'm definitely gonna have to try the plastidip on the bumpers! That's a good idea adding the bedliner. My dad was a huge chrome fan and that's why he added the grill, but I am not. This might be my next project thank you!

My dad likes doing that but I'm not a huge fan, I kind a enjoy having the small accents. Tho I thought about taking the SR5 off cause it's kinda just out of place

    Awesome pics.

Scarry sight (for bad guys and domestic trucks) to see tundra leading the charge of bad ass helicopters!

Added these raised letters. They were really cheap eBay ones so hopefully they stick

Today's update (sorry if this is annoying to anyone uninterested, I supposed I could always make a separate thread...) - confirmed that the issue is a failed windshield seal as the issue is present when the vehicle is cold or hot. The water appears to be coming through the bottom of the windshield. They're going to move the truck to the body shop and attempt to remove, reseal, and reinstall the windshield (and obviously replace if it breaks, which is a possibility). They did ask me about the dashcam on my windshield, which I'm hoping doesn't devolve into an argument over it being the root cause or not; though that's a fight for another day, really just want the truck fixed at this point.

In other news, my thoughts on the 2023 Tundra after a handful of miles around town.
Pros: +acceleration is awesome when that boost kicks in; thing hauls ass +the platinum leather is really nice, albeit a little too soft +auxiliary button layout is better (especially the rear window button's location) +the surround cameras are a cool feature
Cons: -overall feel is just cheaper than my limited -really small interior; enough to turn my wife off the truck completely -the blue stitching of the leather is a bit much, wish it was just gray/black -I don't like the huge infotainment screen since it 'sticks out' of the dash; I think the 2021's size/integration is perfect
Overall: I definitely don't hate the 2023 Tundra, but I know for sure that I want to keep my 2021.

They won’t. Even my factory Toyota ones started peeling off after about a year. Finally gave up and just removed them.

I bought cheap ones off eBay too. Immediately after installation, I noticed the white background of the oversized “double sided adhesive tape”

I removed them and all the tape on the letters and tailgate.

Reinstalled after cutting each letter out of name brand 3M double sided tape.

    Three years and going strong…

Watch a few different YouTubes on the subject, it's very helpful. Just did my emblems for the first time a couple weeks ago, turned out great. Best advice I saw on YT was using wooden toothpicks to roll up the plastidip in tight spaces, genius, that guy was awesome.

Sounds like you may have some oily residue causing the bubbling. I scrubbed all my emblems with a toothbrush (filthy) and wiped down well with alcohol, qtips, etc. Lots of light spray coats from different angles and any other advice already given here.

It takes very light, multiple coats. Make sure they are clean and use some denatured alcohol on them before spraying.

What have I done to my 2.5 Gen Tundra today? Well nothing extravagant, just gave it a good wash before heading out on a road trip. Also slapped on some new license plate frames I bought…..
