I've been looking for a solution for the blinding light from the license plate lights when using the reverse camera. All I've been able to really find is a harness that disables the lights when in reverse, which works, but not my idea of a good time.

This guy on TacomaWorld came up with these glare blockers for the 3rd Gen Tacomas, and after asking if he'd looked at doing the same for the Tundra and exchanging a couple of messages with him, he's listed the Tundra ones as of 10 minutes ago.

Wanted to throw this out there for anyone that might be interested. I don't know the guy personally and I don't get anything from referring anyone, just happened to stumble onto these and ask the right questions I guess. Mine have been ordered and I'll update fitment and how well they do when I get them on.

Go back to halogen bulbs, 5000 color temp or less (more yellow).

Those (and turn signals) are the only bulbs that are non LED on my truck.

The better solution in my opinion, which also comes from the Tacomas, is a harness that turns the license plate lights off when the truck is put in reverse. No glare at all.

Both ideas work as well, just figured I'd offer it up as an option.

Except if your are using the lights to assist in trailering. I did not see much point in replacing with LED since IDGAF how it "looks" only how it functions. I did purchase an LED strip above the plate to help when backing in the dark, but its orientation will not affect the camera.

Left old nonLED bulbs and slapped a strip or 2 of electrical tape over the lenses. Worked for me and didn't cost anything.
