I took the restrictor plate off, give the red dragon a little more juice. But uhh, keep that on the down low.

I will say I turn off or disengage the a/c compressor most every single time I nail it to help preserve the compressor regardless of the vehicle. Unless of course my full attention is going to the situation which does happen sometimes. When RPM's are back down, simply turn the dial. Drove several vehicles over 200k and never had a compressor failure. Two clutches. Whoopie! Just too much work and expense that can be easily prevented by not regularly straining it. Motor mounts are another thing not yet discussed.

Guess I’m ready for WOT all day everyday! Plus they’re red so that’s worth additional gains.

It's meant for motorcycles, but it's got food for thought.

That definitely is aimed more at motorcycles with manual transmissions. Automatics however will work with the engine to prevent strain. If the v8 will happily propel car 45mph at 1,200rpm, I don't see any necessity to drive her at 3,000rpm.

Let me tell you what my dog is doing. This is sort of relatable to the engine.

He sleeps all day and saves all that energy, so that one time when he hears "STRANGER!!!" or "DEER!!!" he will unwind, barking like all hell broke loose.

Right, because a biological animal works the same way an IC engine does. :monocle:

I’ve never owned a vehicle that didn’t get full throttled at least once a week. Most multiple times a day. Engines need to be worked and full throttle works them. Want to really test an engine? Load up max trailer weight and then go do some 0-60 pulls. Really helps burn the carbon out and seat rings. And yes, I’m very serious about that. Passing people on a two lane black top with a loaded trailer is not an uncommon thing. Know what’s cool? Not a single gauge moved. Why? Because vehicles are not fragile dandelions and are meant to be ridden like the prom queen.

That is dumbest idea ever, gang. You do realize there's more than an engine?

I go WOT in the '07 as often as the conditions allow, 90 comes on quick when going 50 and it's fun.

Normally aspirated with a free flowing Dirty Deeds cat-back and an old school DAP tune, it's a quick combo in a lighter weight 5.7L RWD RCSB with the towing package.

OP why did you resurrect this thread lol.

    Here’s my opinion..

    IMG_5471.jpg

If my 3rd gen can do this your 2nd gen should not even break a sweat or blow anything up. Just send it give her hell the truck will probably like it.

    Also listen to this.

    You’re not wrong..

So, the other day I was stuck behind a couple of dawdlers on a country highway that couldn’t decide if they wanted to go 25 or 55 so I decided to put the foot down and pass them. I had manually downshifted a few times but thought I was in 3rd when I was really in second. The Whipple was whinnin and the exhaust was singing when I accidentally bounced it off the rev limiter just as I pulled next to the car I was passing. Startled the driver next to me as much as it startled me. Oops.

But WOW did that thing sound good zingin around 6k! That’s with 220k miles on it..

Redline is more of a... suggestion... or guideline. So I'm told. My face already feels like when I hit 5k...

...although I'm sure it looks more like this...

...but I don't want to end up looking like this permanently, so I limit my redline encounters. Out of safety. For my face. And small children that might see it.

Every. Single. Day. That WOT throttle downshift into second gear from 75km/h is just beautiful. I do that daily on my way home, accelerating onto the same stretch of highway. I let it shift at redline and then just maintain highway cruising speed. I'll do the occasional free rev or burnout off the limiter too. Just to show off my exhaust or for videos lol. Keeps the engine clean and young lol. 380km on the odo and not worried one bit. I keep the fluids clean. Doesn't leak, doesnt burn. No engine light or issues in over three years of my ownership.

I’ve WOT a few times. Every time I get on it, not WOT, it puts a smile on my face. :D I love the sound of the TRD exhaust. To me, it sounds like a race truck. :p
