Alpine ILX-F511. Game Changer

PAC TR-7 is in the mail and should be delivered Monday. For now I just used the parking brake to enter setup

 

I also have not used the OBD part of the harness and TPMS still shows up

 

I was going to pull my OBD adapter out, as I know iDataLink has changed that for the later models, but wasn’t sure if the 2018 still needed it. Do you have the rest of the OEM settings/customizations available?

 

I have it in the 2018 too, the settings do show up, but I haven't tried to change anything. One thing I noticed that fuel tank info shows empty there, but I don't know if that's going to update later (I haven't driven the truck with new HU yet, was just temporary checking while it was on the passenger seat - still have to make all harness pretty with soft tape, etc, before sticking all stuff behind the dash)

haha wellllllll. I use it first thing in the morning to drop off the kids just to get it out of my driveway for the daily drivers to come out of the garage unhindered…so I guess you could say it is driven daily..

Call up XM and cancel. Tell them their bullshit transfer fee is too much and their service is overpriced.
They’ll waive the fee and offer you a reduced price for a year to keep you signed up.

 

I’ve read a few reports that the TR-7 didn’t work on newer Alpine units because they don’t have the foot brake wire. TR1 and the one @TRDFerguson linked off ebay both are confirmed.

 

tr7 will work as it still has a delayed negative pulse sequence on the parking brake input. Just cap off the brake output wire from the tr-7…

I'm waiting to order the maestro and everything else until I actually have the radio in my possession. Supposedly will be ready for in-store pickup on 8/19. Fingers crossed they didn't ship mine elsewhere.

 

My original ship-to-home time was Aug21st, just updated to Aug18th and says UPS has received the item. So sounds like they’ll package it up quickly and get it out. May save a few days. Also, can’t wait for the install info, including everything I need for it. Have JBL (2017 Platinum) and wanna retain the steering wheel controls and anything else I can. I’ll wait patiently for the install thread promised here. Much appreciated guys. I’m broke AND dumb and y’all are exactly what I needed to get this setup

 

I have never DIY’ed audio before, first timer here. Is this list accurate for what I need to complete this install with all the trimming? Going to order parts tonight so I can install when the unit gets here next week.

RR is more than sufficient for most, really RR2 adds programmability via bluetooth and supposedly low current switched outputs for auxiliary devices…

I currently have an Alpine ilx-F309; it is set up with maestro, etc. I am wondering if it will be possible to simply remove the current head unit and plug and play this one. Anyone know?

 

Main plug looks similar, others not so much.
I was able to swap 2 different Pioneer models years ago, but they were very similar HUs..
