Yeah, so do we. Canadians sometimes use British gallons and sometimes use American gallons. Sometimes we just say gallon because reasons. A "gallon of milk" here is 4 Liters. A US gallon is 3.78 liters and a UK gallon is 4.54 liters.

I just say "I'm getting a jug of milk". Don't get me started on those psychopaths out east who measure milk in bags...

    I dunno, I don't speak Canadian.

I like the standard units of measurement. It has its roots in human anatomy and it's intuitive.
Metric has its uses though. Like in a laboratory or hospital, etc.
For everyday life stuff, like distances, construction, etc, standard measurements are fine.

So true...I just got my first trailer payment notice. Was kinda hoping first payment could be next month.

I was talking with a peer of mine that's 10 years older than me and we were laughing about how the new generation would shit themselves if they had to go back even 20 years and work. I know I have to adjust for each generation and I really don't want to be one of those old crusty guys, but at some point the work has to get done. It's a work environment with schedules, budgets, rules and goals. It's not a daycare to charge your phone and search other jobs that will "better utilize your untapped potential".

Yup. The hyperbolic exaggeration of some anecdotal situations where people are screwed by the employer is all the excuse tons of people (of any generation) need to feel that they too are being kept down and not treated fairly. When you can go talk to people that interview and hire for various positions and they tell you that if you show up in presentable clothing, on time, and speak clearly you are already in the upper 20% of applicants, it's not "the man" keeping you down...

Around here most places have 2 prices....

12oz price and a 'pint' price

just another excuse to gouge the shit out of the consumer :censored:

If I have a choice between a 12oz beer and a pint of beer, what do you think I'm going to pick?

    Kinda like a steak...

Hot Waitress w/big cans: 'Sir, would you like 8oz filet or the 20oz porterhouse?'

Me: 'Bitch, WTH is wrong w/you, bring me the 20oz filet'

They always say the older you get, the less you like people. This is entirely true. Hence why I have zero patience to drive anywhere during peak hours to include side roads and why I want a house away from others.

    Yep...100%
Just remember us when WY is only issuing moving permits for approved people...I'm pretty sure you and I have a common aunt somewhere in time.

I almost said "share an aunt" and then I realized where the pervs would take this conversation.

If you ever see me talking to a group like that and I've got both hands stuffed deep into my pockets, I'm not rubbing one out I'm trying to prevent a court case. Cuz if there's anything that annoys me more than people saying "Like...like...like" as a sentence filler, it's the insane overuse of "literally". I get this urge to start smacking people...

I thought they used the term hectares when they were referring to large farms, or forests, etc. I thought it referred to a bigger piece of land. It's only 2.5ish acres. An acre is 208'x208'. It sounded odd to hear the term hectares to describe 47 acres. Mostly because I don't hear it often.
For reference, an American football field is 1.3 acres, including the end zones.
47 acres is a good sized piece of land, but it's not huge, like describing a section of South American rainforest or something.
Even big farms that are 5-600 acres,......people just say.....5-600 acres.
I guess saying "19 hectares" made it sound more impressive.

You can learn it. When I was in school, I did everything in metric. Then I worked for 10 years for a company that did everything in imperial (except the lab, which was fun). Now I work for a company who does everything in metric. It only takes a couple of months for your brain to switch over.

You'll just have to learn some of the standard conversions that we have to use when talking to you guys.

A kilometer is about a mile and a half.
30 cm is about a foot.

Any speaking crutch annoys me. 'Right?', 'Like', 'OK', 'So', 'Um'. I had a Central American trainer one time who spoke decent English, but he'd say 'um, um' consecutively, and with different accents. He was translating his speaking crutch for us...
