How much further out will 18x9 with +18mm offset wheels be?

Looking for help with new wheels. Ive searched and read alot of posts, but cant find my particular question.

I have the TRD Off Road wheel 18x8 with +60mm offset. I am looking at new wheels that are 18x9 with +18mm offset. Tires went from Michelin 275/65r18 to 285/70r18 Nitto. According to the calculator on tiresize, the new inner sidewall will be 1.69" farther out from the suspension and the outer sidewall will be 2.09" farther out. But it doesnt ask wheel size or width.

My question - will the new wheel be about 1.65" (60mm - 18mm = 42mm) farther out, or do I also need to add 1" for width (8 vs 9)? I dont want to go farther out than about 2.25".

 

I'm running Methods with a + 18. The tires are roughly 34.5" x 11.5".

You have to add 1/2 of 1 inch difference in wheel width since 1/2 of it will push the inner rim edge toward the suspension and the other 1/2 will push the outer rim edge out.

Here's mine. My tires are slightly wider than the one you are thinking about. 295/70/18 on 18x9 18 mm offset wheels.

 

They sit around an inch past the fender. Check my sig and pics I have quite a few pics with almost that same size wheel but with 35’s

 

I have the method 18x9 +18 with 275/70r18 Toyos.

 

Thanks for all the pictures. That’s the stance I am looking for. Looks so much better. I have fender flares so it looks like it’ll be right at or just under them. Going with methods.

According to that wheel width doesn’t matter. So it should be 42mm further out and stick out 34.5mm past the fender. That’s about 1.35”. My fender flares are 2”, so if there’s a law here that the tires have to be covered I’m still good.

Had fender flares on the old truck and it looked ok. But I’m about to take them off now for a better stance. Plus the new wheels. Wishing I had gone bigger than 6112 at 1.9”.

18x9, +18, 295/70R18 NRG with flares, had to get them, rocks were flying up the side.

 

What size lift are you running? Any trimming or BMC? I’m thinking about running this setup with my leveled tundra (2 inches up front).

 

+18 Methods with bushwacker oe flares and 275-70r18 tires. Sticks out ever so slightly past the flares

 

Been a while, Bilsteins on 2nd setting and a Coachbuilder shim is a bit over 2” iirc. No trimming, but I did use a heat gun and pushed back some plastic. Not sure if same today, 6112’s were recommended back then.

In the back I have 1.5” Toytec shackles.

Interesting. My shop said I would need a BMC. Idk if I should risk it or not. It’s $350 to get it done.

 

Depends after the suspension upgrade settles, wheel size/offset and actual dimensions of the tire. I’d imagine even if you have the same everything as mine, there might be a small variance either way. However I researched here a few people who had the same Methods and NRG’s not needing to BMC which is what I wanted to avoid. Played the odds, worked.

Check when level, and on a grade you often encounter both facing up and down, turn the steering fully each way to check rubbing. The shop is probably taking the guesswork out and over ensuring clearance. It’s not often I make tight radius turns but it’s never contacted doing it.

25 mm is 1 inch. stock wheels are 60, so 60-18 is 42mm delta, So all things being equal, that offset will poke out each wheel 1.75 inch.

 

I might just test fit the front wheels to see if there’s any rubbing, and if so then I’ll drop my truck off for a BMC. If there’s no rubbing, I’ll just tell the shop something came up. Not like they’ll suffer from me skipping an appointment. They’ve definitely made plenty of profit from me lol.
Do you have any pictures of your truck with this specific setup? I can’t seem to find any on your profile.

 

I could have sworn I had a pic, searching here “lift and heat gun” has a few threads and jogged my memory, I first unbolted the plastic, made new bolt holes and pushed it in further before the heat gun and rolling with a bat. There’s plenty clearance without the plastic cover.

Thanks! I think it’s 2.2”/1.5” based on what I said above.

Someone said 3/1 makes it level when measured, but looks front high because of the truck’s visual angles. Also, I did want a slight rake because I used to tow an RV.
