Did a couple things yesterday with the Tundra.

Replaced the loud as fuck mud claw tires with some michelin defenders and got an alignment done. Here's what the tech at Midas had to say: "Lca and lca camber bolts maxed out, after market upper control arms for lift kit installed, tie rods almost maxed out to have enough toe adjustment" Heres my numbers. Truck still pulls to the right pretty hard, but rides lightyears better than what it was before.

After that I ran down to grab another terrible financial decision. Truck towed it like a champ as long as I wasnt in a hurry. Purred all 95 miles at 65 no problems, ECT was right around 92-96 C at those speeds.

Which UCA did you go with? It's Midas, so I'm skeptical whether you've got something highly adjustable like SPC uppers, which I can imagine would confuse the hell out of a chain store with lukewarm techs.

Truck looks good though. What spring did you use with the 5100s? Which notch/circlip?

Previous owner installed Freedom Offroad ucas. The 5100s are on the bottom notch since the OME 2884 springs are installed, so according to 1stgenoffroad it should be a 2 inch lift on a 4wd access cab, which is the minimum the freedom ucas are for I believe

    Truck looks good @danb !

I miss Minnesota. Lived in Minneapolis for a few years and had family in Worthington (that place I don't miss lol).

The bed rack I have been threatening to build is done! I think it turned out alright. Just finished painting and I will mount it up in the morning.

It is. I would look at a slimming program for v.2. I think it weighs about 130 lbs.

Today I replaced my tailgate lock. Old one would lock but wouldn’t unlock. Ever since someone stole my neighbor’s Taco tailgate I’ve locked mine. Now I don’t have to remove the tailgate backing to unlock. $100 well spent 789A1E8F-52A9-486A-B280-CCB17D401411.jpg

Finished LBJ’s and OTR’s, made an appointment for an alignment, mounted a bed rack and installed my RTT. THEN CHANGED THE OIL/filter in my boat as well as changing the gear oil in the lower unit. Oh then did the dishes. it’s about time for a beer.

Think it has more interior room. 2" wider IIRC.
Departure angle isn't too good though.

Saw this on Twitter and gave it a try. Cleaned the headlight with windex then scrubbed one side with Repel bug spray… 1AC17549-7BC1-49A7-8C5F-64642C58BC11.jpg

Both sides clean… not bad for 5 mins of effort. It’s not shiny like new but yellowing stains are gone289FAB48-595E-46AF-A5D3-6A3FE99D7D27.jpg

I’ll try to remember to update. Guessing it lasts as long as it takes the yellow gunk to come back. Only time I’ve had old headlights stay clean & spotless was when a buddy cleaned my prior lights at his headlight shop. Lasted years! He sealed a clear coat in an oven or something along those lines. They looked brand new.

Guess I’d have to see it on the lot in person. It looked like it was the same width as the 4R.

Im definitely curious to see LC vs 4R on TNGA.

If the 4R brings back MT I’ll be quite tempted. But that seems highly unlikely.

Assuming not, 4R and LC would appear to be super similar. Interior space might be one critical factor but won’t be massively different. Still, for larger humans it might matter. Then there is styling which is a subjective thing. The LC photos look good. But maybe the 4R will too. Personally I prefer 3rd Gen Tacoma to 4th gen looks wise and I don’t really like the 4R looks in 4th and 5th gen.

But maybe the 4R is moved to a cheaper price point with the LC target price decrease. I’m not sure how that will be possible but a 30k 4R brings it back down to a level that will be more accessible to the masses. A 28k base model would be really nice. But of course that may compete with the RAV4.

It does make you wonder though, why so many choices. Even the Tacoma trims are excessively numerous in my opinion and that’s a potential departure from Toyota of the past who would typically limit choices like Costco.

I suspect both LC and 4R will be out of my price range for a while though so I’ll get some time to look from the sidelines.

I'm the opposite. I hate the turd gen taco looks and thing the 4th gen looks good. They took the 2.5 gen and turd gen styling and squashed em together with a hint of updated stuff and that's the 4th gen. Also I'm a huge fan of the 2uz 4th gen 4Runner. I hung the pages of it from Car and Driver on my wall as a kid and dreamed of owning a V8 4Runner. I don't understand why I bought another 1GT instead of a v8 4Runner. I'm dumb. Lol

I wonder if the new Prado sized LC will kill the 4Runner. I mean the 4Runner only exists to be our Prado. And the new LC take some design ques from the 5th gen 4Runner IMO and they're the same size and serve the same functions as human carriers and off roaders and the fact Toyota put out that Heritage 4runner... It might be the end of an era.

Yeah, quite interesting how many dislike 3rd Gen Taco looks wise. I’m a big fan myself and can’t really explain it.

I hated 2nd gen looks for a while but they have grown on me and now I own one.

I’m sure I could get over my initial distaste for the 4 runner looks wise. It would be a better family rig. The only thing my Taco has which beats it is MT and maybe price tag. Maybe a little bit easier to hose / blow out the bed vs vacuum. But I am going to be facing a back seat size problem soon with the boys growing.
