    Gang, hi.
Last time I little bit "wot"ed was probably some time last year, because recently I've been really hard into highpermiling. There are other reasons too.

I have this constant worry that if I wot, either one will happen: check engine light comes on, transmission breaks or engine breaks or starts leaking, or all of the ebove.

Are my fears unfounded? Is it hard on the driveline parts or is it even recommended to wot every once in a while? I've heard rumours that woting burns off carbon deposits behind the valves, but I've also heard that it's an urban legend and modern engines have no problems driving slowly all the time.

What is your take? Thanks gang!

Ps- I'm just worried also because truck is over 5,000lbs and has over 300hp. Those two combinations cant be very good for aggressive driving. That's why I'm always in the caressive driver camp.

I don’t slam the throttle open for the same reason - at least not if I can help it. I usually roll in to it. But even so, I rarely go WOT, even pulling heavy over a mountain pass. Close to WOT, but rarely matted on the floor - sure. And yet my foot itches to let the beast eat while simultaneous fighting my wallet at the gas pump and my nerd-self-MPG-monger…

I have “wot” ed a few times when I first got my truck. I had to find out if it was broken in or not. To be honest it was probably more than a few times. Truck can handle it. But as far as for a prolonged time I don’t think any truck can handle it.

I WOT my truck when the traffic conditions call for it. The sound the engine makes is intoxicating. I can't get enough of it.

I was WOT non-stop including kissing the rev limiter here and there. That 5.7 brought out a bad side of me and then the DD exhaust? Oh man.

Well, when I did mine on very rare occasions, it starts to sound scary after passing 3,000rpm. The wrrgggTRRRARAAAAAA. :nuclear:My rear seat is out, so the sound is intense. I usually regret doing it shortly after.:sorry:
Should've just let the cars pass..

    Regularly.

Getting on the freeway at the north/south on ramps and merging with truck/ vehicle traffic in excess of 80mph.

PSA; to out of stater's in S Utah. Get on it when getting on the freeway.:angrygirl:

Every time I pass someone, get on a highway, want to do a burn out, want to have fun, miss my sports cars, want to hear the exhaust. So quite often. I’m sure it’ll increase with the new gears and tune.

I probably go 80-90% a few times each week and firewall it once a month. Typically on freeway onramps to get around an asshole ahead of me trying to merge at 45mph.

Yeah, me neither, it's probably super bad for the truck. I'd watch some youtube videos of 0-60 and lads always have dash flashing and blinking everywhere.

I have three merging ramps on the way to work, and two on the way home.

Given the traffic pattern, hammering it is a must.

The DD 12” and K&N full intake make the experience unforgettable.

I wouldn’t sweat it, before buying my latest tundra and purchasing the SC for myself I had looked at and considered purchasing a supercharged tundra that I later found out had easily done 75+ 1/4 mile passes at the drag strip. We are talking brake boosting launches in 4x4 going 0-100+ mph runs back to back all night. It ran like new at 75k miles with the SC installed from day 1, original engine and transmission. I didn’t buy it when I found YouTube videos of it at the drag strip (like 10+ videos) and any time you’re going to the drag strip you’re doing a good 5+ runs. And those are just the drag strip videos they put on YouTube! It was a hobby of the owners. It was the same truck, same license plate and everything. Hauled ass though, running high 12s and low 13s. There were also many videos of the truck doing some fairly agressive off-roading. Needless to say, they can take a lickin and keep on ticken even cranking out way more hp than a stock 5.7 has.

I wouldn't worry about WOT on our trucks. Toyota engineers are extremely smart, and I suspect they have very specific parameters they examine, implement and allow to give the best performance that they can deliver while still preserving the durability that is expected of the brand. If you're worried about internal buildup/coking of the rings, keep true to your OCI'S and give it a good extended blast on the highway from time to time to keep the engine happy, at least that's what I do.

Hard not to now and then... The 5.7 sounds sooo nice when you let her sing a little! The giddyup feels pretty good too.

Try not to do it all the time 'cuz she's so thirsty, but it'd be wrong not to let the horses run free once in a while. :burnrubber:

    :rockband:
Guess I should've closed my eyes
When you drove me to the place
    Where your horses run free
'Cause I felt a little ill
When I saw all the pictures
Of the jockeys that were there before me

    Believe it or not
    I started to worry
I wondered if I had enough class
    But it was Saturday night
I guess that makes it all right
And you say, "baby, have you got enough gas?"
